Siamese Twins

Spread the love

Scripture: Malachi 2:14-15

More scriptures: Pro.5:18, Pro.2:17, Ecc.4:9-12

Yet ye say, wherefore? Because the Lord hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously, yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant. And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth (Mal.2:14-15).

Let me begin by saying that your better half and reliable partner is your wife. She is your twin. It matters less how you feel and the negative vibes you may get from your wife; she is your covenant partner. As the head of the family and the husband to your wife, God did not create you to be an island? He created you to have fellowship with Him and with His sheep-your wife and children. That is why He said, “it is not good for man to be alone, I will make for him a helpmeet” Gen.2:17-18. So do not see your wife as a necessary evil as many husbands are wont to believe. Even God, as great as He is, is not alone. He is with the Son, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. So, you can see that God appreciates partnership and He created you as a husband to partner with someone-your wife. Your wife remains your first and most important partner because of the fact that both of you have become one flesh. It is very important that you also know that your partnership with your wife is a covenant sealed by the power of God.

Partnership with your wife is your fastest route to overcoming the obstacles and traps of life. Be it barrenness, financial emptiness, evil forces, unruly children or extended family crises. In Ecclesiastics chapter 4 verse 8, the scripture makes it clear that being alone opens you to unending labour and struggles. But when you partner with your wife, it provides you with a safety net of strength and comfort. Therefore, you must rekindle your friendship with your wife. Make her your best friend. Don’t deal with her wickedly but in knowledge and wisdom (1Pet.3:7). Always remember that she is your project and you will present her before God according to Ephesians 5:20-27. So to discard her is to discard God. No one discards God and ever remains intact. So for you to see her as your covenant partner, you must treat her with respect at home and outside the house. You must also pray for her often especially in those areas of her life where she needs help. You must serve her with your time, body and finances and be open to her about your visions and expectations. Finally, you must be willing to teach her, be kind and faithful to her. When you do these things, then you would have succeeded in making her your covenant partner.

Spiritual exercise:

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to treat my wife as a vessel of honour.

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to respect my wife.

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, help me to be truthful to my wife in all things.

Faith confession:

I renew my commitment to be faithful, loyal and honest to my wife because that is how I can make her my covenant partner in Jesus Name. Amen.
