YOU CAN LOVE HER AGAIN

There are some husbands who have concluded that they can no longer love their wives again. They are no longer attracted to their wives and have demonstrated their dislike to their wives by showing them (wives) unkindness, bitterness, hatred and bad will. The Holy Spirit is saying, you can love your wife again, despite her failings and shortcomings. It doesn’t matter how bad your wife may have looked or appeared to be, you can dare to love her again. You can resurrect those loving attitudes that you used to have for her. You can sincerely love her as Christ has loved the church. God gave her to you so that you can make her into a woman of honour and dignity. Yes, it is true that she does not appreciate your kindness or goodwill. It may even be true that she has not reciprocated all the goodness you showed her. You must not stop loving her. You must not contemplate divorce. You must not do or take unworthy steps that would bring the name of God to disrepute. You must honour God by giving her the God-kind of love.

It is very important to note that love is not a feeling. It is a choice you make out of every unpleasant circumstance. For instance, to give or pray for those who have not shown you kindness is love. To extend a helping hand or speak nice words to people who have insulted you in the past is love. This is the lifestyle, Jesus Christ, the example of how husbands should behave, tells us to live. If you love your wife because she has done something right or extend love to her only when she shows your respect, then you are not different from the world. Rather, Jesus said that true love is when you love those who cannot repay you. Your wife may not be able to return to you respect and honour, don’t stop loving her. In the process of time, the power of your love will overwhelm her wrong attitudes and bring about a great change in her life.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, by the Precious blood of Jesus Christ, deliver me from every hold of bitterness and hatred I am holding against my wife.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, baptize me with Your Spirit of love to love my wife again.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me with Your grace to sustain and continue to love my wife.

I dare to love my wife again because I am a good and godly husband to her in Jesus Name. Amen.
