I SHALL RETURN HOME, NO MATTER WHAT

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Lk.15:15-18

More Scriptures: Ps.51:12, Rom.8:1, 1Pet.3:11

If you study the story of the prodigal son, you will understand how much God loves you and wants you to return to your wife and children. It doesn’t matter how messed up you think you are and irrespective of what others will say about you, the arm of the Father is opened to accept you and forgive you. God is calling you back home. You have stayed long away from the Garden that God gave to you to nurture. And God took the man that He made and put him in the Garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it (Gen.2:14) God gave you a sheepfold that is a family. He also added to you sheep, that is your wife and children. All of these gifts are projects and God doesn’t want you to abandon His work. God wants you to cultivate your sheep and sheepfold so that you could present then gloriously to Him on the judgement day.

But what does it mean for you to return home and in what areas does God want you to return? God wants you to return to your wife and children and reconcile with them. God wants you to seek peace with them. The Bibles says “seek peace and pursue it (1Pet.3:11).  Please, don’t try to justify your actions. You are the leader and you have the power to influence your sheep. Also, God wants you to return to Him. The Bible says this. If you will return to God, you will be restored (Job 22:23). God desires a relationship with you. God looks forward to talking to you. He is not happy when you are far away from Him. Maybe you have fallen into sin and you think that is your fate. That is not true. His mercies are new every morning and He loves you so much that He doesn’t want you to destroy your life (Lam.3:22). And finally, God wants you to return to doing those spiritual activities that you were doing before your fall. He wants you to pray without ceasing (Lk.18:1). He wants you to have and increase in the knowledge of Him by studying His word (2Tim.2:15). He wants you to love your wife as Christ has loved the Bride (Eph.5:25). He wants you to take personal responsibility for the training, development and cultivation of your children (Eph.6:4).

So, what do I need to return? You need faith in God. This is because faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not see (Heb.11:1). You don’t have to see signs. All you need is to trust God to reconcile you back to Him and to your sheepfold. Wouldn’t you want God to say this of you For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord, to do justice and judgement, that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him (Gen.18:19)? I want it. I know that you desire it too.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, I repent of all my recklessness and indiscretion as the head of my family.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, I receive courage to return to You and to my sheep in humility.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, give me wisdom to be able to lead my wife and children in Your ways.

FAITH CONFESSION

I know that my wife and children shall blossom again because of my hope in God because that is my conviction as the good and godly husband in Jesus name. Amen.
