IT’S BEYOND YOU (1)

Main Scriptures: Jos.6:17-18

More Scriptures: Jos.7:12, Num.14:18, Gen.12:3

My dear fellow husbandman, I admonish you not to touch the accursed thing. Never. That is the warning God is giving to you today. The story today is about Achan. He was a man, husband and father. He was a Jew, one of the blessed people of God. During the period the people of Israel left Egypt, they fought so many battles. And in all the battles that they fought, the Israelites won expect the battle with a small city called Ai. The leader Joshua couldn’t understand how and why they lost the battle, despite all the sophistication of the weapons they (Israelites) had. During the investigation, it was discovered that they lost the battle because of the sin of one man, Achan. He touched the accursed thing; what God asked them not to touch. Achan TOUCHED WHAT WAS FORBIDDEN and paid for it with death on himself and his family. What a sad end to a glorious destiny!

But is it so important for me to avoid things that will bring curses into my life and my innocent sheep? It is principally because inside you are four generations. The Bible has this to say. And thou shalt see thy children’s children up to the fourth generation (Num.14:18). Furthermore, the Scripture says this of Abraham. Through you shall the families of the earth be blessed…. (Gen.12:2-3). What this means is that you are a channel that connects your children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to generational blessings or curses. So, what you do and the actions you take today do not only end with you, it also robs off on your generation. Your conduct today can either create either a pathway of blessings or curses to your sheep. So, you must be very careful what you do. Think about your future.

Let me mention some of the things that I consider the accursed things. The act of stealing. To steal what is not your own and keep it in your home or office is an accursed conduct. The second is idolatry and having another God beside Jesus Christ. When you visit the herbalist and see him or her as your god or you keep idols with you in your home or under your seat in the office, you are keeping the accursed thing. The Scripture tells us this about God. There is no other god beside Him (Deut.4:35). God is more than enough to meet all your needs as the man, husband and father over your sheep. He is your shepherd (Ps.23:1).  Also, when you disrespect and dishonor your parents. As the head of the family, you must understand that you will grow up and old someday. So, if you don’t respect your parents, your own sheep will dishonor you. This is because as the earth remains seed time and harvest shall never cease (Gen.8:22). Gehazi, the servant of Prophet Elisha, a husband, touched the accursed thing and he paid severely with leprosy and it extended to his family (2Kings 5:27).

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, I repent from getting involved and touching the cursed things.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, I plead for Your mercy over every wrong action I had taken in time past.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, please restore a new beginning of blessings for my life and my sheep.

FAITH CONFESSION   I am in Christ Jesus and I am not condemned but justified by the blood of Jesus Christ and so my sheep and I celebrate in the blessings of the Lord as the good and godly husband in Jesus name. Amen.
