FAITHFUL WORD PRACTICE BIRTHS MATURITY

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Romans 2:13

More Scriptures: Lk.10:16, Jas.1:22, Matt.7:24

And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you, depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Therefore whosoever HEARETH these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock. Matt.7:23-24. The subject we are looking at today is a caption I read on a billboard while I was on my way back from a mission work in Keffi in Nasarawa state. And the Holy Spirit impressed it on my heart to relate it with husbands who are the heads of their families. The Scripture clearly states that it is not enough for us as spiritual leaders to know what we are commanded to do to our wives and children. It is much more profitable to practice what we know. For instance, you hear husbands who are so quick to tell you that they know what to do, yet they fail to do it. What makes your office healthy and purposeful is what you practice.

Jesus, the Head of all husbands, has given you His life as a model to emulate. He was caring, loving, patient, sacrificial, protector, and mentor to those who were under His leadership. You are ordained to emulate His lifestyle. In Jas.1:22, the Word of God says but be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. What this means is that if you only know what to do and you don’t do it, you are only deceiving yourself. If you know to love your wife and children and refuse to do it, you are only deceiving your personality. You are like a man who looks at himself in the mirror and afterwards forgets how he looks like. However, for you to be a doer of the word, you must purpose in your heart and walk the talk. In Dan 1:8, the Scriptures say but Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank, therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. You must resolve in your heart to please the Lord by doing His will to your wife and children, irrespective of the circumstances or opinion of the world. You must make a determined decision to do what is right from God’s perspective. You will always get the rewards for doing much more than hearing. God and your sheep will honour and reward you not just for what you say or preach but for what they see you do. You are a wise leader ordained by God to lead your wife and children. So, please do not only hear and preach what you know is right from the Word of God. You must engage yourself in practicing it. That is the pathway to growth as the good and godly shepherd.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, help me to hear You clearly as You teach me my roles as the head of the family.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from self deceit, and make me forthright in my dealings with my sheep.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to be a faithful practitioner of Your instructions as the shepherd.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am committed to be a hearer and doer of God’s instructions because I want to be a good and godly husband to my wife and children in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
