COMMAND AND CONTROL (4)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Is.11:1-3

More Scriptures: 1Pet.5:10, Ezra 7:28, Ps.138:3

In the last three days, we looked at three Spirits that every husbandman that desires to become good and godly as the man, husband and father needs. The Spirit of wisdom, understanding and counsel. I pray in the name of Jesus that these Spirits shall have indwelling power in you and by the outworking in your life, you will function as the godly husbandman to your sheep.

Today, let us consider the fourth Spirit. It is the Spirit of might. The life-giving Spirit of God will hover over him, the Spirit that brings wisdom and understanding, the Spirit that gives direction and BUILDS STRENGTH. (Is.11:2) MSG

Now as the head of the family and the shepherd over your sheep, have you ever considered that your success as the man, husband and father as well as your ability to lead your sheep is as important as your physical strength. There is very little that you can do as the leader of your sheep and sheepfold if you are limited physically. And this is why you need the Spirit of might. Jesus Christ, the perfect example of the good and godly husband, had this spirit in great measure. Consider this for a moment about Jesus Christ. He fasted for 40days without food, yet He did not die but came out stronger than ever. He moved from location to another, organizing crusades and revival meetings, yet He was never tired. He carried the Cross, beaten with whips, yet He completed the journey to Calvary. This is why the Scripture says this. They went from strength to strength everyone that appeareth in Zion (Ps.84:7). And the Bible also says that their strength was not abated (Deut.34:7).

But what is might or strength? It is the quality or state of being physically strong. Two things are very important here. Quality and physical. You must be healthy and physically fit to be useful to your wife and children. You need to be strong physically to make the most of your sexual relationship with your wife. You also need to be strong to help her out in some house chores as well as other areas where your strength is required. In fact, you need your health in good quality to make the spiritual demand of worship, prayers, fasting and word study worthwhile. The Bible has this to say. I wish above all things that you be in health….(3Jn.:2). So, what do I do to become and stay strong? First, eat healthy. Your body is the temple of God (1Cor.6:19). You don’t own your body. God does, so don’t abuse it by eating unhealthy foods. Secondly, you must exercise yourself because it profits your mind and your body systems. Take a walk, skip, visit the gym and engage in any other form of exercise. Thirdly, stay away from sexual immorality as well as drugs. Your wife is adequate to satisfy your sexual desires. Stay with her only. Don’t take solace in drugs or alcohol. They will not help you but destroy your organs and systems. Stay healthy. Stay strong.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from abusing my body with sexual irresponsibility and drugs.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, baptize me with the Spirit of might in greater measure.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to exercise my body and make me useful to my wife and children.

FAITH CONFESSION

I have the Spirit of might working in me and it shows in my thoughts, conduct, actions and decisions towards my wife and children and the challenges of life because that is what makes me the good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
