Today, we shall discuss the Spirit of knowledge. Are you aware that the problem between you and your wife or children is not as much due to the devil but for your inadequate or lack of working knowledge of how to treat them? Do you also know that ignorance has no respect for age, position or status? So, if you are the pastor of your church or the founder of your ministry or 10 years older than your wife or a father of more than 20 years, and you don’t have the requisite knowledge required to lead your wife and children, you will end up a disaster as the man, husband and father. This is why the Scripture says this. For my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge (Hos.4:6). You can by the outworking of the Spirit of knowledge in your life, calm the tension between you and your sheep. You can stop the quarrels between you and your sheep from degenerating into a full-blown war at the home front. And this why the Bible says that study to show yourself approved as a workman who is not ashamed…… (2Tim.2:15). So, if you don’t want to be useless to your wife and children, seek to know about them and what you need to do to be a blessing to them. Where there is no knowledge, there will be gaps and where there is a gap, satan finds a foothold to settle in. You must therefore stand in the gap for your sheep by knowledge.
But what is knowledge? It is familiarity, awareness or understanding of someone or something such as facts, information, descriptions or skills. So, the question you must ask yourself is this. How much information do you have from the Word of God about your wife and children? Do you have an understanding of the plan and will of God for your sheep? This is so important because you can only make as much progress in leading your sheep to how much you know. The more you know about what God says of them the better you become in influencing them, inspiring them and acting as the good and godly shepherd. It is for this reason you must continue to give attention to the study of the word of God. You must keep searching to know their likes, dislikes and personality traits. Jesus Christ, who is the perfect example of the good and godly shepherd knew the mind of God for His disciples. He also knew their personality traits. And as a result, He assigned them different tasks that led to the eruption of the Christian faith in Acts chapter 2. As the leader of your sheepfold, there are godly books you can read about various subject matters concerning your leadership function. You must always remember that reading gives birth to knowledge and knowledge empowers. Your wife and children are God’s projects. God has a template in His word. Search for it and lead well.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from mental laziness and make me an avid reader of Your word.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, baptize me with the Spirit of knowledge in greater measure.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to give attention to reading, studying and meditating on Your word and other good materials and make me useful to my sheep.
I have the Spirit of knowledge working in me and it shows in my thoughts, conduct, actions, understanding and decisions I take towards my wife and children and the challenges of life because that is what makes me the good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
