Do you know that you have the power to reject ungodly counsels from friends, family members and relations that can damage the well-being of your sheep and sheepfold? In Luke10:19, the Word of God has this to say about the authority you have in Jesus. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy and nothings shall by any means hurt you (Luke 10:19). Listen to this truth. Anybody who gives you counsel that does not agree with the word of God is your enemy. Whatever you are advised to do to your wife and children and sheepfold that further threatens your unity and compactness of your sheepfold is of the devil. Resist him or her.As the head of your family, you must learn to say no to wrong and ungodly counsels. You must know the mind of God concerning your position as the man, husband and father. You must also know the will and plan of God for the sheep and the sheepfold that He has handed over to you because knowledge is wisdom and wisdom is freedom. The ability to say no is a proof of maturity. As a leader, you have power with God. You are made in the image of God and you are a god (Ps.82:6).
Now consider what the Scripture says in Pro.1:10. My son, if sinners entice you, consent thou not (Proverbs 1:10). It means, say no. You must stick to doing what pleases Jesus Christ, the perfect example of how husbands are to behave. Wherever the offer may be coming from, as long as it does not fit into the word of God, it doesn’t deserve to remain.
But what are the ways these satanic offers would come? First, they come as precious substance. In verse 13, it says, we shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil (Proverbs 1:13). As a husband, you must understand that it is not all that glitters that is gold. This is why you must continue to engage the help of the Holy Spirit for direction and wisdom. Secondly, it comes in a form of revenge. In verse 12, it says let us swallow them up alive as the grave, and whole as those that go down into the pit (Proverbs 1:12). It is true that your wife and children or even someone else may have offended you. You may also have been advised either by a man, friend or even the devil to take revenge. You must say no, even if it means people would call you names not befitting of your position as the head of the family. But for you to be able to say no, even against all odds, you need to be empowered by the power and person of the Holy Spirit. In Isaiah 40:28-29, the Scripture says he (God) gives power to the faint and to them that have no might he (God) increaseth strength.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me with supernatural ability to say no to deception and lies.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me with the ability to discern godly counsels from ungodly counsel.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower my inner man with boldness and faith.
FAITH CONFESSION
I receive power from on high to overcome every ungodly counsel against my sheep and sheepfold and I walk in godly wisdom because that is what makes me the good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
