Main Scriptures: John 10:1-end
More Scriptures: Matthew 22:37, Hebrews 12:2, Romans 5:8
We started out yesterday by saying that if you are cohabiting with a woman that you have not paid her bride price and done the necessary things as required by law and tradition of the woman’s family, you are a robber and a thief. You must retrace your steps and do the right things. The second commandment that is expected of you as the good shepherd is taken from John 10:3. To him the porter openeth and the sheep hear his voice and he calleth his own sheep by name and leadeth them out (John 10:3). As the husbandman, you must have A QUALITY RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS CHRIST. He is the only Person who connects every husband to His sheep. Remember that you don’t own your wife and children. They belong to God and He has given them to you because you are His steward. As the head of your family and the spiritual leader in your home, you cannot love your wife and children as Jesus Christ has loved the world except you have a personal relationship with Him. This means, you must genuinely love Jesus Christ with the whole of your heart, might, soul and spirit (Matthew 22:37). Abide in me and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself except it abide in the vine, no more can ye except ye abide in me (John 15:4). You cannot also love your sheep as Jesus Christ loves the Church until you are in love with Him. Jesus Christ died for you and I while we were yet sinners. He did not consider our sinful nature. Instead, He looked beyond it and loved us all the same. The natural husband will struggle to be kind to his disrespectful and insubordinate wife or extend a hand of goodwill to her. A natural husband will not be willing and ready to carry the burden of his disloyal and rebellious children on his shoulders. But if he is in Jesus Christ, the grace to live above offences is released to him. Consider for a moment, how Jesus Christ lived with the twelve disciples. Also remember that He is the Bridegroom of the Church. He had in His fold stubborn Peter, doubting Thomas, thieving Judas, deceptive Matthew. Yet, He coordinated His family fold so well that after He left, they stirred up a revival that has given birth to the unstoppable growth of Christianity. So, if He had a quality relationship with His disciples, despite all their weaknesses, you can also enjoy the same grace only if you are in Him and He is in you. The first step you must take to kick start this eternal relationship is to give your life to Him and accept Him as your Lord and Personal savior. Secondly, you must continue to give attention to what He says in His word, the Bible. And as you deepen your relationship with Jesus Christ and tarry at the word of God, you will begin to talk to your sheep like He would, serve them, protect them, and inspire them as He would.
