FOUR WAYS TO LEAD YOUR SHEEP (1)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Matt.9:7-9

More Scriptures: Mk.1:17, Pro.8:20, Is.40:11

As the head of the family, there is so much that God expects from us. And as the godly shepherd, our lives must reflect godliness in our conversation, responses and reactions to our sheep. Of importance is that as the shepherd, we have the primary role to provide purposeful leadership to our sheep. Jesus Christ, who is the perfect example of the good and godly husband, remains an excellent leader. He was the most successful godly husband that ever lived. He was a man of positive influence. As a result, He got the assurances of His followers. This is what the word of God says about it. He spoke to Peter and said, follow me and I will make you fisher of men (Mk.1:17). To all the twelve, Jesus led them effectively and successfully.

So, how did Jesus lead His sheep? What model did He leave behind for us to follow? And what can we learn from His style of leadership that will impact positively the lives of our sheep? In the next four days, I will be sharing with you from the Word of God-Bible, four major ways that Jesus led His disciples. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ that the power to be not a hearer but a doer of His word shall be poured upon you in Jesus name. Amen.

The first model of effective leadership that Jesus presented to every godly husbandman is for the husband to lead his wife and children by example. Everything Jesus asked His disciples to do, He did and even much more. He took responsibility not just to teach His sheep, He also lived by the teachings. In Acts chapter 1 and verse 1, the Scripture tells confirms this truth. The former treatise have I made , O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach (Acts 1:1). When He took to the disciples to the mountain top to pray, He had over the time He stayed with them engaged in continued prayer life. When He told them the secret of supernatural power and dominion over the forces of hell in Mark chapter 9 and verse 29, He had given Himself to prayer and fasting in Luke chapter 4.

As the head of the family and the leader in your sheepfold, you must understand that your wife and children will not honour you beyond the examples you have set for them and which they have seen and can testify about. So, you must be very careful how you live your life both in the secret and in the open. You must continue to set your life, actions and conduct using the life of Jesus Christ as your perfect example. As it has been and will always be, actions speak louder than words. Don’t try to say what is right to your sheep. Do what is right in line with the Word of God. It is the only way to influence your wife and children for God and His desires.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, destroy hypocrisy in my life.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, make my life a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to You.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, let the words of my mouth, the conduct of my life and the meditation bring You closer to my sheep.

FAITH CONFESSION I teach and do to my wife and children the examples of Jesus Christ because that is what makes me the good and godly husband in Jesus name. Amen
