LEADERSHIP IN THE SHEEPFOLD (1)

I have come to discover that the biggest challenge confronting the family fold is lack of effective leadership. This is so because everything rises and falls on leadership. The position of leadership influences people either for good or for evil. And any leader who takes his rightful place will ultimately become an authority and influence. This is why the success or failure of the sheepfold is dependent on the type of leadership. If the husbandman understands what it requires to be the head of the family and he commits himself to taking responsibilities for leading his sheep and sheepfold, satan, sin and the world will not be able to destroy his sheep and sheepfold.

It is on this truth that I will be sharing with us some of the leadership secrets for every husbandman from the Bible. So, in the next thirteen (13) days, we shall be teaching from 1 Timothy chapter 3. It is the Bible template of how you must behave as the godly man, husband and father.

But let’s set the foundation of this series. And the Lord God said, it is not good that the man should be alone. I will make for him a help meet for him. And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air and to every beast of the field, but for Adam there was not found a help meet for him. And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam and he slept, and he took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh instead thereof. And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, this is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh. She shall be called woman because she was taken out of Man. Therefore, shall a man leave his father and mother and shall cleave unto his wife and the two shall become one flesh (Gen.2:18-24).

It is a good desire for you to want to be a husband. And if you are a husband already, you did not make a mistake. You have done the will of God. It is the will of God for you to be married. From the beginning, God did not want you to be alone. He did not want you to cohabit with trees and animals because they are not suitable help meets for you. He took the initiative to make you the husband and He created the office. So, His intentions, plans and purpose for making you lead your sheep is good and perfect. But you have to take responsibility to make your life positively impactful to your wife, children and the kingdom of God. That is godly leadership. If anyone wants to provide leadership…….good! But there are pre-conditions (1Tim.3:1) MSG. What then are the qualities of the godly leader?

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me with the Spirit of godly leadership and help me to lead my sheep honourably.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me a godly leader to my wife and children.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me useful to Your kingdom and to my sheepfold.

FAITH CONFESSION 

I receive the Spirit of Christ and through His Spirit I lead my wife and children honourably till the end because that is what makes me the good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
