LEADERSHIP IN THE SHEEPFOLD (5)- ACCESSIBILITY

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: 1Tim.3:1-7

More Scriptures: 1Thess.4:18, 1Tim.6:3, Eph.4:26

A leader must be……………. accessible (1Tim.3:1-2) MSG

The greatest need of your wife and children is accessing you. Your sheep seek for your presence much more than your pressure. Your wife and children want to reach you much more than your riches. Your wife has concerns, fears, doubts and hopes. Your children also have. They want to share them with you. When you make yourself accessible to your sheep, it becomes your assurance that they will not seek another man, woman or activity for answers and advice. Jesus Christ who is your perfect example of the godly leader was accessible and available for His disciples. At a time when some persons wanted to stop the children from coming to Him, He said, let them come to me.

You cannot claim to be the head of your sheepfold and be far from them spiritually, emotionally, physically, and financially. The farther you are away from them, the closer they get to the wrong places, people and activity and receive devilish counsel. It is much more important to understand that you must take ownership of your sheep and make yourself reachable. The Scripture has this to say about the need for you and I to be accessible to our sheep. The more your sheep can talk to you, share their pains and fears with you, the better you know them. And that helps you to understand them and provide the necessary counsel, influence, direction and protection that they require to become all that God has created them to be. So, don’t claim to be busy while abandoning your immediate constituency-your sheep and sheepfold. God will hold you accountable for the lives of your sheep and your sheepfold.

But how do you become accessible to your sheep inspite of your busy schedule? The first step is for you to make out time of your 24 hours in a day or a week that you would spend time with your wife and children. Not just time, but ensure that you engage them in healthy conversation. Ask them questions and let them ask you questions too, even if the questions are stupid. Jesus Christ set this pattern for you and I. After a busy programme, He always came back to meet His disciples. He had private moments with them. He asked them questions and they in turn asked Him questions. This healthy interaction helped the disciples to remain with Jesus and sought answers and guidance to the issues of their lives. They did not go anywhere else but came to Him. And this is what He is asking to you to tell your sheep as a sign that they can reach you. Ask and it shall be given, seek and you shall find, knock and the door shall be opened……. (Matt.7:7). Your wife and children need your attention. They love to have your ears. They want you to hear them out. They want to pour out their inner doubts and fears. Be available for them.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, I ask You to forgive me for being under satan’s yoke (BUSY) and neglecting my sheep.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, I ask for Your mercy to prevail over the way and manner I have abandoned my sheep.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to make time for my wife and children and help me to invest it wisely for my sheep.

FAITH CONFESSION

I receive the Spirit of wisdom and by it I invest my time wisely into my wife and children because that is what makes me the good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.

Time – both a blessing & a curse as they say. But when you take God’s view such a blessing. Just need His wisdom to you it wisely.
