A leader must be not be money hungry………(1Tim.3:4-6) MSG

One of the unfortunate weapons the devil is using to destroy the destiny of the husbandman is greed. A lot of leaders have handed over their souls to satan in exchange for money. Others have killed people and sworn to vanity because of their untamed appetite for money. As the leader who is striving to become a good and godly husband, you must understand that the love of money is the root of all evil. For the love of money is the root of all evil (1Tim.6:10). Money is good. God wants you to have it so that you can abound unto every good works. God wants you to be rich because the word of God tells us that Christ has given you richly all things to enjoy (1Tim.6:17). So, your desire to be rich is good. And God has provided you and I the ways by which we can become prosperous. It is when you become desperate and not contented with what you have that you become money-hungry-ready to kill, destroy and steal from anyone and by any means. God is not pleased with this attitude because it doesn’t make you the godly leader to your sheep.

But how do you overcome greed? The first is for you to understand that God operates in times and seasons. There is a time and a season for everything under the sun (Ecc.3:1). It is often said that life is in phases and men are in sizes. Where you are today and what you have right this moment will not be the end of your life. If you don’t have a car today doesn’t mean you will not it have tomorrow. My father in the faith Bishop David Oyedepo remarked that what you don’t have you don’t need. This profound statement is the cure to greed and discontentment. Secondly, you must associate yourself with husbands who do not live false lives. Men who try to run you down and make you feel that you are inferior to them. That is peer pressure. The Scripture tells us that bad company corrupts good manners (1Cor.15:33). As the head of the family, you cannot escape the influence of the company you keep. Surround yourself with men who are honest in their dealings with others and those who have proven testimonies of God’s favour on their financial and material blessings. The third step you must take is to resist the temptation to be greedy by pleading the blood of Jesus Christ over the desires of your heart. The word of God says that they resist him (devil) by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony (Rev.12:11). Anytime you start to desire to want to steal, lie or rob for money, make this declaration, I overcome you, unclean spirit of greed by the blood of Jesus. And as you take these steps, your life will become a godly heritage to your sheep and to other men.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, I ask You to forgive me for being greedy for money.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, I ask for Your mercy to prevail in my life for lusting after another man’s money.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to be prosperous and satisfied with Your blessings.

FAITH CONFESSION

I receive the Spirit of contentment and by the Spirit, I overcome the power of greed and discontentment in my life because I am desirous of becoming the good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
