FIGHT AND RECOVER ALL

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: 1Samuel 30: 1-19

More Scriptures: Lk.10:19, Heb.13:8, Heb.11:2

The story in the first book of Samuel chapter 30 gives an account of a husbandman called King David. If you take time to read the entire story, you will discover that neither your sheep or sheepfold can be stolen. And if per chance they are lost to satan, sin and the world, God has empowered you to fight, recover and restore them all. The husband of Abigail, David, was away from home. He went on an assignment. But while he was away, the enemy came in and invaded his kingdom. They took his family, including his wife and all the goods. When he came back, he met a dislocated family. His wife has been captured alongside others. Valuables were also carted away. He was distraught and sad. He was almost losing hope. But he cried out to God for help when he realized what the enemy had done. God told him three things. He said to him, pursue, overtake and recover. He mobilized his men and went on a counter attack. And to the glory of God, he recovered his wife and all other goods and families that were stolen. Satan and his agents have invaded many sheepfolds and have taken sheep captive. Some husbands have lost their wives and children to sickness and diseases. Others have lost their sheep to wayward lifestyles. Unfortunately, many shepherds have watched their joyous and beautiful relationships with their wife and children destroyed by satan, sin and the world. Others have looked on while the enemy scattered their sheepfold. That is not the will of God for you. God wants you to pursue, overtake and recover all.

So, you must understand your place in the sheepfold. You must appreciate that your headship is not just a position but power. That every godly shepherd, no matter his age, qualification or background has been called and empowered by God to recover whatever may have been lost in the lives of his sheep and sheepfold. That is what Jesus Christ said concerning you in Luke chapter 10 and verse 19. I have given you authority and power……(Lk.10:19). The authority that you have in Jesus Christ confers on you the capacity and capability to stop that raging storm in your sheepfold and between you and your sheep. So, you must not allow satan, sin and the world to mess with your sheep and sheepfold. But why would I be the one to undertake this assignment and not my wife? It is simply because from the beginning God handed over your family to you and not the other way round. God did this by making you the head. So, your headship confers on you the power to execute the recovery plan of God. If He did it for Abigail’s husband, he can do it for you. If He did it for Sarah’s husband, He can do it for you. Remember, in Heb.13:8, God is described as the same yesterday, today and forever (Heb.13:8).

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to recover all that the enemy has stolen from my family.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to recover all that the enemy has stolen from my wife and children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, teach my hands to war a good warfare against the forces of darkness.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am endued by the power of the Holy Ghost to fight for my sheep and recover all that may have been stolen from their lives because that is what makes me the good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
