ARE YOU RIGHTLY POSITIONED?

Reading through the Scriptures above, you will discover that there was an ordained place for the husband to dwell in. According to Gen.2, the Scripture says, and God created the Garden of Eden and put the man in it…. (Gen.2:14-15). So, from time to time, when God visited to fellowship with the husbandman, He met them at the particular spot, the Garden of Eden. However, when God came visiting, the husbandman was no longer there. He had moved elsewhere. Consequently, the husbandman lost fellowship with God.

As the head of your family, it is very important for you to know that in the family setting, there is your place-the position that God has made for you to function in. And that is what God will use to measure your performance. And when you are in your place that God has assigned to you and you carry out the demands that come with that position, then God will bless and compel your wife and children to honour and reverence you. So, what is that God ordained position for you in your family fold? It is the position of a leader; the head. Your headship places on you three very important responsibilities. The first is that you provide the vision of your sheep- what is the plan of God for their lives as the sheep of the shepherd; what can you see about them and the height you want them to achieve? The second is for you to provide the direction and chart the course for your sheep. Jesus Christ, who is the perfect example of a good and godly husband, provides a chart for His followers and the world. He said, I am the way, the truth and the life. Are you the way, the truth and the life to your wife and children? The third is that you are responsible to redirect the conversations of your flock to agree with theirs. The Bible says something in this direction. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, Oh Lord….(Ps.19:14) Are you a living example of a leader whose words are graceful? Do your words hurt your wife and children or heal and bring them hope?

So, your true position is the position of a mentor. And that is summed up in Gen.18:19. For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord to do justice and judgment, that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him (Gen.18:19).   However, for you to optimize your position, you must first accept responsibilities that come with that position. The second step is for you to find out all what God expects from you for the position that you occupy in your family-fold. And thirdly, you must pray earnestly to God to help you know the demands and engage  in doing it joyfully.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, help me to rightfully take my place in my family-fold.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me a responsible man, husband and father.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to hear and do all You command me to do.

FAITH CONFESSION

I take my rightful place in my sheepfold and do all that is expected of me to do by the word of God because I want to become a good and godly husband to my wife, children and the world in Jesus Name. Amen.
