PATH TO GREATNESS

One of the quickest ways to gain the confidence, respect and trust of your wife and children and become a positive influence to other husbands is to be able to solve problems or challenges that show up in your sheep and your sheepfold. This includes health, spiritual, financial, mental and emotional challenges. The event in Matt.15:29-39 was about Jesus Christ and the disciples. He was a problem-solver. He healed the sick, raised the dead and made the lame to walk and the blind to see. Then on this particular day, He had to solve a very critical challenge. He needed to solve the hunger problem. For three days, his followers had not eaten. He did not transfer the responsibility to Peter or James or John. He confronted it headlong. He asked, “How many loaves do you have” Matt.15:34. He was ready to solve the challenge. And He eventually did. Five thousand men including women and children were fed. And when He tried to disperse them, they did not want to leave Him but He had to convince them to go.

That is your heritage as the head of your family. As the shepherd over your sheepfold, you do not pretend not to see challenges neither do you transfer it or run away from home. Rather, you have need to solve the challenge. You must be able to provide solutions to the emotional and negative attitudes of your wife and children. You must be able to provide answers to the financial needs as well as all other needs of your wife and children. You are doing yourself a disservice if you continue to give excuses or run way when the challenges of life show up. Your wife and children will not respect and honour you. They will lose confidence in you and your ability to help them. In fact when they are confronted with challenges, they may tell you, but they have also told someone else whom they trust to solve their challenges. And if your sheep continue to seek solution beyond you, you will lose your relevance in their lives.

There are three spiritual demands that you must subscribe to if you want to be a problem-solver. The first is that you must be born again by accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. All power belongs to Him so when you connect with Him, you connect with the power to overcome. Secondly, you must pray for continuous baptism of the spirit of faith and boldness. You need these spiritual virtues to build your confidence. Thirdly, you must be a man of a quiet spirit. The Bible says that be still and know …(Ps.46:10). If you are noisy in your heart, you will not hear from God what next to do. And this you can do by asking Jesus Christ to give you hearing ears and seeing eyes. As the head of your family, you are more than just a man. You are a solution waiting to happen. Be that solution to your wife and children and earn their followership and loyalty.

 SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, baptize me with unusual boldness and faith for a triumph.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me a victor over the challenges confronting my sheep.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, give me a quiet and peaceable spirit so that I can hear Your instructions.

I have power with God and by it I provide the answers to the challenges of life confronting my wife and children because that is what makes me a good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
