BE THE MAN OF ORDERLINESS

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Gen.18:18-19

More Scriptures: 2 Cor.7:1, Col.1:19, Heb.11:3

For I know him, that he will command his children and his HOUSEHOLD after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord, to do justice and judgment, that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him (Gen.18:19).

God wants to bless you as a husband and the head of your family. God wants to make you a successful leader; leading your wife and children in the way of the Lord. God wants to prosper your office as the head of the family. But He wants you to put your life and your sheepfold in order before He releases His blessings. This requires you to live a life of holiness, put away sin and its nature and put on the garment of the nature of Jesus Christ, the perfect example of a good and godly husband.

As the head of your family, you must ensure that righteousness reigns in your family kingdom because that is what exalts. Righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a reproach (Pro.14:34). This means you must not deal with your wife or children deceitfully. It requires that you must be committed to serving your wife and children in the best possible way, bringing glory to God. You must understand that God is a God of order. Where there is no order, there will be chaos. And where there is chaos, there will not be progress. You must appreciate your position in your family-you are their head, the spiritual leader and kingdom administrator and governor, king and lord. So, the success or failure of your family government depends on how much order you have put in place at home. That is what Sarah’s husband did and God testified about it.

As the father over your children, you must continue to set the limits and controls over the excesses of your children. This is so important because according to Scriptures, a child left to himself will bring shame to his father (Pro.29:15). However, for you to set your house in order, you must set your life in order by dealing with all forms of sin that may want to defile your spirit man. The Word of God in 2Cor.7:1 shows two levels of sin. It calls it the filthiness of the flesh and of the spirit. You may not have committed adultery or stolen but what is the state of your heart towards your wife and children? Is it filled with love or hatred? Secondly, you must walk to please the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ must be the reason why you love and care for your sheep. Another way you can command order in your sheepfold is to continue to engage your sheep in healthy conversations. And finally, you must maintain an atmosphere of praise in your sheepfold

As the head of your family, you must understand that living a life well pleasing to God is your heritage, so please work to make your life a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me a vessel of honour in my family fold.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, let the altar of righteousness and holiness continue to burn in my heart.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to guide my wife and children in Your ways.

FAITH CONFESSION

My life will please the Lord and through it I influence my wife and children unto godliness because that is what makes me a good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
