THE WORKS OF JESUS (2)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Jn.14:11-12

More Scriptures: Mk.6:13, Jn.17:15, Mk.4:39

Continuing from the teaching of yesterday, another work of Jesus is that He gave them hope and encouragement. As the godly shepherd, you must learn to listen to the pains, fears, and even hopes of your wife and children. You must make yourself available for them to pour out their lives. And one of the ways is for you to build confidence in them to the extent that they can trust God and you with their lives. You must not only connect with your flock physically, you must also connect with them in soul and spirit.

Thirdly, it was the work of provision. All through the time He led both His disciples and other people who followed Him, He made sure that they never lacked what to eat. He fed 3,000 and 5,000 respectively at two different occasions. He provided the finances used to procure the food the disciples would need. That is the work Jesus wants you to manifest in your family kingdom. He wants you to work with your hands and mind to earn income and provide for your wife and children. In 1Tim 5:8, the Scripture says, if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. It doesn’t matter your anointing or status in life, if you cannot provide for your household, you are not better than the person who has not given his life to Jesus. In fact, you are worse than a sinner. Whatever punishment is reserved for the sinner, you will get twice.

Fourthly, it was the work of defence. Jesus was always defending His disciples from and against the harassment of the devil and human oppressors. When Peter’s mother was attacked by the spirit of fever, Jesus laid His hands on her and she was healed. When satan had planned to sift Peter, Jesus made advance prayer for him, so that even though Peter denied Jesus three (3) times, he realized that he made a mistake. He repented and returned to his company. This same timid Peter led about 120 persons who stirred up an unquestionable revival in the world. God wants you to demonstrate the authority He has vested in you as the good shepherd. He made you a leader full of dominion and authority. He placed you as the head of your family so that you can defend them from and against spiritual and physical oppression. In Gen.1:26, God said, let us make man in our own image and likeness and let him have dominion over all……. It is this spirit of dominion in you that makes it impossible for the rod of the wicked  to rest upon the lot of the righteous. So, give yourself to the demands of the works of Jesus and manifest same for the benefits of your wife and children because that is what makes you the good and godly man, husband and father.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to take godly control of my sheep.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, reveal Your greater glory in my life and let it flow to my wife and children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, open my eyes to Your good works and empower me to reproduce them in family.

FAITH CONFESSION

I take authority over the forces of hell and keep them away from my wife, children and sheepfold because that is the trademark of a good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
