WHO APPROVES YOU? (2)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: 2Cor. 10:17-18

More Scriptures: Gen.18:19, Job 1:8, Mk.1:11,

Following from yesterday’s teaching that as heads of our families we must continue to seek the approval of God in our leadership function, there is also the need for every husband to understand his real worth as the head of his family. It is your worth in Jesus that defines how much you are prepared to give and do to please Him. That is where you must begin from. According to Scriptures, you are an ambassador of Christ. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us, we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God (2Cor.5:20). You are an ambassador of Christ. You represent Him in your family and on earth.

As a Christ in your family kingdom, your life is designed to reflect the attitude, nature and virtue of Jesus Christ, the Bridegroom of the Church, to your wife and children and by extension those around you. Whatever you do or say as you lead your flock must be influenced by the life Jesus lived as a husband. Secondly, you must resist the force of carnality. As a husband who desires to be good and godly, you must fight the power of the flesh. This includes anger, bitterness, envy, unforgiveness and so much more. As the head, you will encounter so many suggestions on how best to deal with your wife and children or even run your home. Most of the suggestions seem to boost your ego as a man who has authority. However, you must know that any advice or suggestions that do not agree with the word and the will of God must not be accepted by you, notwithstanding who is giving it. In 1Jn.3:22, the word of God says, and whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to obey Your word above the tradition of men.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from pride and arrogance.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me with the spirit of boldness and faith.

FAITH CONFESSION

I seek to please God in all things because His commendation is what validates my position as a good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
