THE LORDSHIP OF THE HUSBAND (1)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Rom. 13:1-2

More Scriptures: Gen.1:28, Gen.2:14, Eph.5:25

Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God, the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation (Rom.13:1-2).

Every husband is a lord in his family fold. This cannot be taken away from him, not even his failures as a husband. This is what makes him the head of his family. According to Eph.5:25, the Scripture establishes that you are the head of your family because God through His Son, Jesus Christ, made it a reality. So, being a husband goes beyond just a title or position. It is about demonstrating the power of Jesus and being a blessing to your wife and children. However, any husband who wants to be good and godly must understand that until he agrees that he is accountable to God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, he cannot exercise lordship over his flock. You must make Jesus Christ the Lord over all your possessions, education, finances, thoughts and will. In Acts 10:36, the word of God says, the word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ, HE IS LORD OF ALL.

As a husband, you will struggle to exercise lordship in all things over your wife and children if you do not make Jesus, the Lord of all in Your life. It is the power you enjoy when He becomes the Lord of all in your life that empowers your life to influence your wife and children for Him. According to Ps.133:2, the Bible tells us that the anointing flows from the head to other parts of the body. Jesus is your Head as a husband. God made you a husband (Gen.2:14-18). He gave Jesus Christ to you as an example of how good and godly husbands are to operate on the earth. When you allow Him to influence your decisions in all areas of your life, He empowers you to operate at His frequency on the lives of your flock. Your lordship engenders your authority.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to continue to subject my life to Your will and instructions.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, teach me Your ways and help me to follow You faithfully.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the force of pride and a haughty spirit.

FAITH CONFESSION

I subject my will and emotions and decisions to the influence of Jesus Christ and His word because that is what empowers my influence as a good and godly husband over my wife and children in Jesus Name. Amen.
