DO EXACTLY WHAT YOU HEAR (1)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Jas.1:21-23

More Scriptures: Lk.6:47, Is.1:19, Ac.1:1

But be ye doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if any be a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in in a glass (Jas.21-23).

A lot of husbands are full of knowledge, but only few take full and personal responsibility to do exactly what they have heard. As the head of your family and the pastor and leader over your wife and children, what you do is as important to God as what you teach and say to your flock. As a leader, who wants to make a positive impact in the lives of your flock and the world, you must be a doer of the word of God and not just a hearer. You must match your words and convictions with practical actions. You must be a man of testimonies because it is the results that your wife and children and men see around you that engender them to follow you and trust your decisions. The days of do what I say and not what I do is over. Your sheep and mine are watching us to see if we are doing what we tell them to do. They want to pick godly virtues from us.

Can we as heads of our families and leaders in our family folds be bold to be that husbandman who is a living example of a good and godly husband? The choice is yours and mine to make. You must understand that only the husband who does all what God says, willingly, joyfully and lovingly, can command testimonies and influence over his sheep. So, as the head of your family fold, are there messages or instructions you have heard about how to live your life as a good and godly husband which you have not practiced? If so, repent now.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to be both a hearer and a doer of Your word.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from living a double life.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, attend to me with the rewards for obeying Your commandments.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am empowered by the Spirit of God to be a hearer and doer of all His instructions for me as the head of my family because that is what makes me a good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
