Main Scriptures: 1 Cor.13:10-11
More Scriptures: 1Thess.2:4, Col.1:10, 1Jn.3:22
All unrighteousness is sin and there is a sin unto death. We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself and that wicked one toucheth him not (1Jn.5:17-18)
As the head of your family and a shepherd who wants to be a shining example to his sheep (wife and children) and people around you, you must strive for maturity. You must outgrow every childish tendencies or immature behavior. But what does it mean to be perfected to do the will of God? It means to grow in faith. It also means to be a matured believer and this is reflected in the way you treat your wife and children and other people and also the way you deal with issues. The Scripture in 1Cor.13 clearly shows the transition from childhood to manhood. When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child, but when I became a man, I put away childish things (1Cor.13:11). As a husband, you must grow beyond emotions. You must learn to deal with challenges either with your flock or others according to the word of God. You cannot continue to do what is wrong and claim that it is your weakness. You cannot continue in sin and think God’s grace will abound forever. Your wife and children need your leadership. They need a shepherd like Jesus in their lives. You have to show the capacity that you are a matured man in deed and in word.
So, how do I grow to become a matured husband? You do that by overcoming the tendencies of the flesh. Your body wants everything. If you don’t bring it under, it will control your life and keep you continually as a child. You must discipline your desires, your mouth and the thoughts that go on in your heart to be sure that they are in tune with what the Scripture has said. You must also ask for grace from the Lord because without the help of God, it will be impossible for you to live above the dictates of the flesh. God made you to be an example to your flock and the world. Make it count.

FAITH CONFESSION
I am no longer a child but a matured man by the Spirit of God because that is what I need to function as a good and godly husband to my wife and children in Jesus Name. Amen.
