Main Scriptures: 2Pet.1:10
More Scriptures: Gen.1:31, Pro.13:4, Jn.5:17
He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread, but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding (Pro.12:11). Diligence is profitable. That is the heritage of every husband who wants to be fruitful. No lazy husband ever commands authority in his household. The indolent husband cannot amount to anything gainful, be it in the works of his hands, his spiritual life, or relationships. Diligence is the nature of God. He went to work shortly after the earth He created became void and formless (Gen.1:1-3). He began to recreate what was distorted and for six days He was at work with vigour and passion. At the end of the day, His diligence paid off. And God saw that everything that He has created was very good (Gen.1:31). Diligence is one of the principal channels through which God will bless the works of your hands. It is a call to accepting personal responsibility to think the best and do the best of every work God has committed into your hands.
Jesus Christ, the perfect example of a good and godly husband was also very diligent. He moved from one crusade to another, from one meeting to another and from one assignment to another. He pursued His assignment so passionately and diligently that He said, my heavenly Father works, so I must work. This is why you must subscribe to the demands of diligence if you want to be an impactful head and leader. Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure, for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall (2Pet.1:10). Being the husbandman is a calling. It is a product of grace. God chose you amongst many men and made you to be the husband. It was not because you were handsome, rich or educationally qualified. But the mercies of the Lord found you. So, it is God who ordained you to be the head of your wife and the father of your children by being a diligent husband.
