WALK, WORK, TALK THE TRUTH (1)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Ps.15:1-2

More Scriptures: Pro.20:1, Ps.24:4, 1Jn.5:17

Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? Who shall dwell in thy holy hill? He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart (Ps.15:1-2).

As a husband and the head of your family, there are three areas of your life that you must guard with all diligence because they define the true assessment of your worth as a leader in and around your family fold. What are these areas you may want to ask? The Scripture provides the answer in Ps.15:1-2-WALK, WORK AND TALK. As the shepherd over your flock and one who will give account for your stewardship over your flock and the office of the husbandman, you must be mindful of where you walk, how you work and what you say. These three aspects of your life must agree with the word of God if you want to be adjudged a good and godly husband with integrity. You must understand that where you allow your feet to take you to tells what your values and convictions are. For instance, you cannot claim to be a good and godly husband and be found in a brothel with a prostitute or in an adulterous relationship with another woman or man. You cannot be seen worshiping God in church on Sunday and be found in a beer parlour on Monday (Pro.20:1). You cannot also be seen to want to enjoy goodwill from your wife and children and people around you and not work at improving yourself. You must support what you preach by your works.

Furthermore, you cannot speak deceits or lies and expect to be honoured or respected by those you are leading at the first instance-your wife and children- or those around you. So, your walk, your work and what you say must be in harmony with the demands of the word of God if you want to be relevant to your flock.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to walk uprightly all the days of my life.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to work righteously in every area of my life.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to speak the truth from my inward heart.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am empowered by the Holy Ghost to walk, work and speak the truth in righteousness because that is the will of God for me as a good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
