THE PROSPERING AS A HUSBAND (1)

Spread the love

Main Scripture: 3Jn.: 2

More Scriptures: Mal.3:10, Ps.35:37, Gen.39:2

Let me begin by saying that the will of God for you and me as husbands and heads of our families is to prosper us spiritually, emotionally, materially, physically and financially. In 3Jn:3., the Scripture says, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers. God did not plan for you to live from hand to mouth as a husband. God doesn’t want you to beg to feed your family. God doesn’t want you to live in sickness. God doesn’t want you to live a life of pain, discomfort and regrets. God wants you to have abundantly life because He came that you may have life and have it more abundantly (Jn.10:10b).

When God commanded you to provide for the needs of your family, it is because He had made provisions available and has empowered you to access the riches of His abundance. God wants your wife and children and the people around you to honour you. He wants you to be their hero. He wants you to be celebrated. So, anything that would defeat His purpose in your life is not from Him. Your poverty is either from you or the devil or a combination of both. You must understand that what gives credibility and value to your life as a husband is when your sheep and people around you can see the visible demonstration of your capacity to provide for your family. You are not created to be poor. God made you rich. God wants you and your family to enjoy all things that pertain to life and godliness. God wants you to have all sufficiency in all things and to also abound unto every good works.

But you may want to ask, why am I still struggling to meet my financial and material obligations to my wife and children? These may be some of the reasons. Firstly, do you have a relationship with Jesus Christ, I mean, have you surrendered your life to Jesus? If you have not, then you must please make that choice now. Jesus is described as the Head of the Church, the same way you are the head of you family. He is also the perfect example of how a good and godly husband should live. When He led the twelve (12), they never lacked anything because He provided every material and financial needs. This means when you accept Him as your Lord and personal Saviour, you begin to live His kind of life- abundant life. Secondly, have you given Him first place in your finances? Do you know what it means to give God first place in your finances? It means making Him the Lord over your finances by honouring Him first and over above everything else. And you demonstrate it by offering Him your worship offering and tithe and giving to the needy around you. In the first place, God gave you the job or business you are doing that is bringing you money. And it makes godly sense to return to God in appreciation of the financial favour He has shown you.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me BY GRACE to surrender my life to Jesus.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, save me from self and the deceitfulness of life.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to honour You with my substance, faithfully.

FAITH CONFESSION

I live to honour God with my financial and material seeds because that is the gateway to becoming a prosperous husband to my wife and children and the world around me in Jesus Name. Amen.
