Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fevour serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer, share with God’s people who are in need, practice hospitality. Bless those who persecute you, bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice and mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another. (Rom.12:11-16).
Yesterday, we began this teaching series by saying that for you to overcome the challenges that sometimes confronts as the godly man, husband and father, you must always engage the weapon of thanksgiving in all circumstances. The second wisdom key to overcoming challenges as the husbandman is “patience”. Did I hear you say, patient? Yes, that is what the Bible says. Patience is very critical in the management of life’s challenges. What naturally follows when we are faced with trails that may want to obviously overwhelm us is that we become agitated. It is at these times that all kinds of satanic options present themselves to us. As a child of God, patience is very critical in your walk of victory. Patience is the inner confidence that makes you unmoved by the unpleasant circumstances around you. Patience empowers faith. It is the anchor that keeps our eyes on God. It is what helps us to judge God faithful.
The other wisdom key is “consistent in prayers. The time to pray more is when it seems as if all is lost and every door appears closed against you. It is in times like these that you intensify your prayer life, notwithstanding the fact that you may have prayed over the issue in the past and believed that it will be answered before the due time. Keep praying, until something happens. Don’t surrender to defeat. Don’t give up on God and His word. Rear up an intense fervent prayer altar- pray more and pray even more.
The next wisdom key is “giving”.This is one secret that guarantees your escape from the challenges of life. No matter the challenges that you are being confronted with, you must maintain the attitude of giving both of your time and materials, however small it may be. It is your channel of connection to the limitless power of God to make all grace abound unto you so that after having all sufficiency, you will abound unto every good works.
Over the last couple of months, I have come face to face with challenges that could have overwhelmed me, but I overcame because of the secrets I have shared with you in this teaching from the word of God. These challenges tested my faith and tried my heart. I couldn’t share them with anyone but with God because they could overwhelm any person. In all these trials, I had to go back to God to help me. And as He led me through His word, He brought me to these verses of Scriptures in Rom.12. Through the help of the Holy Spirit, my eyes opened to these truths and as I commit myself to the demands, I began to notice remarkable changes in my life and in my walk with God, my Father. You can also overcome.
