Main Scriptures: Phil.3:12-14
More Scriptures: 1Sam.2:6, Heb.7:12, Lk.15:22
One of the characteristics of the godly husbandman is ever learning. The godly husbandman always wants to know more; he wants to be better at what he does; he always seeks to improve on what he already knows about how to lead his wife and children in the way of the Lord. This is why it is said that the day you stop learning is the day you start dying. The hallmark of your position as the head of the family is your decision to improve yourself consistently in the way and manner you relate with your wife, children and other people. It also has to do with the choices you make on a daily basis. This is so important because you are a change maker, and every change you want to see in the lives of your wife and children starts with you (Ps.132:2). God has empowered you with grace and power to make the necessary changes that you long to see in the lives of your wife and children, but you are the center of gravity of your family kingdom. Everything rises and falls on you as the leader. Your wife and children look up to you for direction, inspiration and guidance. They want to emulate you. You are and remain their perfect example. Therefore, as the head of your family kingdom, you must be careful how you conduct your life. You cannot continue to live your life outside of God’s will and expect to make a positive impact in the lives of your wife and children. This is why those negative and ungodly things that you do to your wife and children and think it doesn’t matter must stop now if you want peace to reign in your family and attract rewards from the Lord.
I was told of a true-life story sometime back of a husband who abused his wife persistently and refused to change. He always claimed he was right, and every other person was wrong. According to the story, they were Christians, but the husband abused his wife physically and emotionally for so long. After several appeals to him to stop this assault, he refused. Sadly, he died. He broke the hedge and the serpent angrily bite him. In 1Sam.2:6, the Scriptures describe God as the Man who has the power to kill and make alive, and the power to bring to the grave and bring up. God has positioned you as the head of the family to oversee your wife and children. Don’t abuse the privilege of being a husband; otherwise God may leave you for the devil to torment. Be committed to change from your old ways and turn a new life unto the works of righteousness.
