LED BY THE SPIRIT (2)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: John 14:25-26

More Scriptures: 1Cor.13:9, Jos.1:8, Ps.25:5

Yesterday, I told you the loss I suffered when I did not allow the Lord to lead me even as I led my wife. When I got married, delay in having children was the least concern for me. I was confident that my wife would become pregnant immediately and we would both become parents nine (9) months after our marriage. But several months after, there were no signs that I was going to be father. And when my wife told me that she was pregnant, I was excited. The pregnancy progressed well.

Now, the question we needed to answer was where she would go for her ante- natal. I asked and relied on men but not the Person of the Holy Spirit. I heard of a popular gynecologist, who had done great exploits in the field of obstetrics and gynecology. I lead my wife there and thought that was the right place to go. And she commenced her antenatal immediately. In the third trimester, something strange happened to my wife-her water broke. She started to leak water. The leakage became severe by each passing day and she was quickly rushed to the hospital where she had registered for her antenatal. Within 24 hours after she was admitted, the baby’s umbilical cord collapsed. The life of my wife and child was in danger. Something had to be immediately. A surgical procedure must commence at once. She was rushed into the theatre.

And as the first surgical knife pierced through her, she screamed “Jesus”. Guess what the response of the doctor was to my wife when she shouted Jesus Christ? “Don’t call that name here”. The surgery was a disaster as we lost our first child. Sadly, for us, it was after the loss that we discovered that the doctor never believed in God-He was free thinker and a satanist. As a leader, I failed to lead my wife to safety by depending on the leading of the Person of the Holy Spirit. But thank God today for His mercies, we have been blessed by three wonderful children, all to the glory and praise of Jesus Christ. But how do I commit my life to the leadership of the Holy Spirit? Firstly, be humble in your heart and be teachable. Humility is a major factor, and this means you must be willing to learn and to follow instructions wholeheartedly however inconvenient it may be. Pride is a burden. It destroys your access to the grace of God. Secondly, ask for direction in prayers, just the same way you ask for business and career breakthrough in prayers. Thirdly, give attention to the word of God and the commandments (Jos.1:8). And as you follow these steps, you will eliminate losses, achieve great results speedily and enjoy favour from God, your wife, children and man.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus and by Your Spirit, lead me in the way that I should go and make my ways prosperous.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus and by Your Spirit, order my steps only to the places You have ordained for me
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus and by Your Spirit, deliver me from wrong direction, decisions and influences and relationships.

FAITH CONFESSION

Father, I surrender my life wholly to the Person of the Holy Spirit, so that I can live a peaceable and profitable life towards my wife and children as the good and godly husband in Jesus name. Amen
