FIGHT TO PROTECT AND PRESERVE YOUR HOME

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Micah 6:1

More Scriptures: Prov.17:6, Eph.5:23, Jos.24:15

There has been this erroneous teaching that the wife is the person who fights to keep the sheepfold. When you attend marriage seminars, you find more women than men. And when there is a crisis in the family kingdom, the wife is advised to do everything not to rock the boat. Unfortunately, this teaching is half-truth and it is not God’s position for the protection and preservation of the sheepfold. Unfortunately, this incomplete message that transfers the responsibility to protect and preserve the sheepfold to the wife, has contributed greatly to the increasing number of irresponsible husbands and fathers in the world, especially in the church.

Now, let me tell you the truth from the Bible. The person to whom God has entrusted the protection and preservation of the family kingdom is YOU-the husband (Eph.5:23, Gen.2:15-18). You are both the physical as well as the spiritual leader, hence if your family fails it’s your fault, and if it succeeds it is your gain. Remember that in any setting, you will always have a leader and followers. And between the leader and the led, who is in control? Definitely, it is the leader. Secondly, the life of your wife has been absorbed into your own life as her husband (Gen.3:16). So, you are your wife’s custodian. Thirdly, the glory of your children is your crown (Pro.17:6), and it is your godly and righteous responsibility to nurture them in the way of the Lord (Jos.24:15, Eph.6:4). With this established truth from the Bible, it is evident that you, as the head of your family, has the primary responsibility to arise and contend for the preservation and sustenance of your family kingdom.

In Micah 6:1, hear what the Scripture says, hear ye now what the Lord saith, ARISE, CONTEND thou before the mountains and let the hills hear thy voice. But in what ways can you contend to preserve and protect your family? The principal way you contend is in prayers. The Scripture says let the hills hear your voice (Mic.6:1). After you have arisen, which is a mark of taking responsibility, you engage the twin forces of prayer and fasting (Mk.9:29). Secondly, be determined in your heart to succeed as the godly husbandman (Dan.1:8). Furthermore, you must be willing and ready to take full responsibility for the lives of your wife and children. You are their shepherd and they are your sheep. It is your duty to keep them just the same way Jesus Christ, our Perfect example of how husbands are to behave, kept all that His Father committed into His hands (John 10:28-29). And as you arise and contend, you are stronger together with your wife and children in winning the battles of life (Ecc.4:9-10). You also enjoy fulfillment and enriching fellowship with God and your sheep (Ezk.34:23-26)

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to contend for the safety and preservation of my wife and children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, grant me supernatural strength to overcome every invincible barrier in my family fold.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, please give me supernatural victories in all my battles.

FAITH CONFESSION

I take personal responsibilities to protect and preserve my sheep and sheepfold because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
