THE AMBUSHED HUSBAND (2)

Yesterday, the Person of the Holy Spirit, our Helper, opened our eyes to appreciate that there are landmines satan has set for us while leading our sheep-wife and children. He also taught us that the first landmine satan sets on way with the aim of stealing, destroying and killing our heritage as godly husbands is divorce, coupled with unforgiveness, bitterness and hatred.

Today, let us look at another landmine. It is the ambush of promiscuity-adultery. As a husband, one trap satan would want to set for you several times over is the trap of adultery. Yes! He tells you how depreciated your wife has become. He reminds you of the ugliness around your wife and her physical structure. He shows you how attractive the other lady is on the otherside. He shows you how the value of your wife has continued to drop in the market. He carries you on a lustful voyage of the lady on the otherside. He tells you how incompetent and sexually unattractive your wife has become in the bedroom. But listen to this truth. Everything satan shows you about your wife are all lies.

Your wife is as good now as she was the first time you chased and married her. She has not lost her statistics, rather she has improved in the overall score sheet-added flesh, brought forth children for you. Whatever the lady on the other side would offer you cannot be compared with what your wife will offer. Make her what you admire in the other woman. Your wife is God’s greatest treasure for you to enjoy, faithfully.

But why would satan want to lay the ambush of adultery for you? The Scripture provides you the answer. For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb and her mouth is smoother than oil. But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword. Her feet go down to death, her steps take hold on hell. Remove thy way far from her and come not nigh the door of her house. Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto cruel, lest strangers be filled with thy wealth and thy labours be in the house of a stranger. And thou mourn at the last when they flesh and thy body are consumed (Pro.5:1-13).

There is nothing as disastrous as the graphic details God’s word has painted about the consequences of a husband falling into the ambush of adultery. Infact, in Pro.6:5, the Bible describes the adulterous woman as a hunter. And you know that the ultimate aim of a hunter is to kill his prey. Satan hates you. He despises the fact that you are a god to your wife and children (Ps.82:6). If you notice that you are beginning to drift away from your wife emotionally and physically, then know that the landmine of adultery has been set for you. Resist it. Run away from it.  

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, by the power in the blood of Jesus Christ, deliver me from the ambush of adultery.
• Father, by the power in the blood of Jesus Christ, make me overcome the landmine of adultery.
• Father, by the power in the blood of Jesus Christ, empower me to reconnect my emotion and body romantically back to my wife.

FAITH CONFESSION

I overcome the landmine of adultery and I am empowered to be faithful to my wife because it is the will of God for me as a good and godly husband in Jesus name. Amen.
