THE AMBUSHED HUSBAND (3)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Ex.20:13

More Scriptures: Jer.29:11, Matt.6:15, Ezk.27:31

Another ambush that satan lays for husbands is the landmine of suicide. As the head of your family, you are constantly under pressure from within and from without. The pressure to meet the demands of your wife and children and the sheepfold, work pressure and pressure from extended relations. Sometimes, you work so hard and yet it seems as though nothing is working. On a daily basis, you endeavour to be responsible to God and your flock but it doesn’t seem to fit in for you as you experience failures and disappointments. So, in all these struggles, you seem confused, disappointed and frustrated. It is at this point satan comes on board. He shows you how worthless it is for you to live again. He tries to convince you to take the path of least resistance. He tells you that life is cheap and can be terminated. He even tells you that you do not lose anything killing yourself. He shows you how simple it is to take your life. He tells you it is the best alternative to your challenges. He magnifies your problems and makes you think that you are the only husband who is going through those attacks. He tries to paint your problems bigger than they appear. And in all of these, you conclude that suicide is the way out. Hold on! It is a big lie.

See what God says about the offer satan wants to give to you, which is that you should commit suicide. THOU SHALL NOT KILL (Ex.20:13). Because God has commanded that killing is a sin, if you take your life, you have killed yourself and that is a sin. And the word of God says that the wages of sin is death and all sinners shall end up hell, the lake of unquenchable fire. Satan wants you to fall into the trap of suicide not only to end your hope on earth but to also welcome you in hell.

You must know and be excited that God has inscribed you in the palm of His hands. He has great plans for you and His end and thought for you is not evil but good (Jer.29:11). God does not intend that your wife will become a widow or your children fatherless. God wants you to be well and alive. He wants you to lead them. The Bible says that Christ has given you and me all that pertains to life and godliness (2Pet.1:3). The finances, materials and healthiness that seem to be a challenge to you can be delivered to you through the Person of Jesus Christ. He has all you ever would need. All you require is to cast your burden upon Jesus Christ because He cares (Matt.11:28).

As the leader, you must anchor your hope in Jesus Christ and the provision He has made on the Cross for you. He is rich yet He became poor so that through His poverty you can be rich. So, it is not true that you will end up poor. It is not true that you cannot enjoy all-round peace. Jesus Christ took strips on His back so that you can enjoy life abundantly (Jn.10:10). Don’t give up on God. He is right there with you to help you.

I understand the ambush of suicide. More times than I care to remember, I have heard that lie. The Bible speaks of giving your life for friends and loved ones, but nowhere does God’s word say that, “It’s okay to take your life because, it’s been a tough day, week, or any period of time. ” God did not create us for self-destruction.

God bless you sir and we really appreciate your contribution. Indeed, when as shepherds we allow the roughness and challenges of life to define our lives, we are heading to self-destruction and the ultimate aim is taking our lives. And God hates it and never did He ask us to commit suicide
