THE AMBUSHED HUSBAND (5)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Col.2:9-10

More Scriptures: Mk.9:29, Am.6:1, Lk.16:16

In the last few days, the Person of the Holy Spirit has opened the eyes of every husband to see the deception of satan, who goes about lurking in the corner, looking for who he will destroy. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ that neither you nor I shall fall into satan’s trap. And in case you have been ambushed by satan, I plead the blood of Jesus Christ for your escape in Jesus name. Amen.

So, having known the landmines that satan sets for us as husbands, how then do you escape these ambushes as the head of your family and shepherd of your sheep? The first step is the step of salvation. You must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. And that begins when you accept Him as your personal Lord and savior. So, I encourage and invite you to make this decision by praying the prayer of salvation. Why this is important is because the fullness of God and every power you need to be a complete spiritual leader and husband is in Jesus Christ (Col.2:9-10). The second step is to contend for the faith. The faith walk is not cheap walk. It requires more than just confession. It is a profession which requires your personal commitment and responsibility. Yes, you are born again but you must work out your salvation with fear and trembling. The Scriptures says, there are many doors that have been opened, but there are many adversaries (1Cor.16:9). And in another breadth, the word of God says, the kingdom of God is available and every man presseth into it (Lk.16:16). You must press into the fullness of your call as the godly shepherd.

The family kingdom God has committed into your hands is not in meat or drink. It is in power and demonstration of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, for you to press, you must engage this foursome forces-word engagement, effectual fervent prayer, and fasting and action. The third step is the step of choosing your friends. Who are those in your circle of friends? Can God be proud of them? Do their lives bring glory to God? Do their conduct at home and their relationship with their flock worthy of emulation? As a husband, you must appreciate the importance of relationships. Who you have as friends will either bring your closer to doing the will of God or take you farther from doing the will of God. The word of God exhorts that bad company (relationship) corrupts good manners (1Cor.15:33-34). Finally, be vigilant and watchful in your spirit. Do not become complacent about your responsibilities as the head of your family. Reject what is wrong instantly (Am.6:1). You are ordained a good and godly husband, fight to make it happen.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, by Your Spirit, pour upon me the spirit of grace and supplication for an effectual prayer life.
  • Father, by the power in the blood of Jesus Christ deliver me from ungodly and unreasonable relationships.
  • Father, by Your Spirit, make me vigilant and watchful over the thoughts of my heart.

FAITH CONFESSION

I set watch over my life as a husband and by the Spirit of God I overcome every landmine set on my path in Jesus name. Amen.
