FAINTED AND SCATTERED

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Matt.9:36

More Scriptures: Ps.29:11, Ps.23:1, Jn.10:11

But when he saw the multitude, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted and were scattered abroad as sheep having no shepherd (Matt.9:36). Jesus Christ was speaking to a people (sheep) without a leader. He said when the sheep lacks a good shepherd, they faint and scatter. This means that the presence of a shepherd in a sheepfold provides strength and protection to the sheep. That is who you are as the shepherd of your flock. You are a force in the lives of your wife and children; a positive one for that. God sent you to your flock so that their lives will not be scattered. He sent you to them so that you can be a source of hope, encouragement, strength and faith. With you around them, a better tomorrow should be guaranteed. God did not ordain that your flock should scatter. He did not also ordain your flock to faint. According to the book of Psalms, your sheepfold is compact like Jerusalem. The Lord will give strength unto his people and the Lord will bless his people with peace (Ps.29:11). The presence of God in your life is to give your strength.

In like manner, your headship in your family fold is to give strength to your sheep. You must ensure that the words of your mouth, your conduct and actions help to build and not destroy them. But how do I become the good and godly shepherd to my wife and children? Principally, it is through feeding them with your godly life and the Word of God, and not the traditions of your village or the concepts of the world. That was what Jesus Christ, the perfect example of a good and godly husband, did. In Ps.78:72, the Scripture says, so he fed them according to the integrity of his heart and guided them by the skillfulness of his hands.  God’s word is the only genetically modified food that guarantees the unity of your sheep and sheepfold.

But how do I feed them with the word of God? First, it is through your godly lifestyles. The Bible says that we are the epistle of Christ. Secondly, it is by engaging the revealed word of God in your prayer altar for their benefit. As you pray the word of God into their lives, the word will go beyond the flesh and right into their spirit to effect the needed godly changes you desire. Being a shepherd over your sheep is your golden and greatest opportunity to be a positive influence in the lives of your wife and children. Seize it!

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, by Your Spirit, stir up a deeper revelation of Your truth in me.
  • Father, by Your Spirit, empower me to function effectively as a good shepherd.

Father, by the power in the blood of Jesus Christ, break every root of disunity in my family.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am a man of positive and godly influence in the lives of my wife and children because that is what makes me the good and godly shepherd in Jesus name. Amen.
