YOUR PERSONAL TRANSCRIPT

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Ps.19:11-14

More Scriptures: Jn.6:63, Pro.4:23, Lk.6:45

Sometime ago, I was listening to one of my mentors in the faith, Pst. John Hagee. He is the Senior Pastor of Cornerstone Church in the United States of America. He was teaching on the subject of family and marriage. And he said, “Your words are the transcripts of your heart”. It was an instant revelation I had never heard before. Now, what is a transcript and how does that affect you and I as husbandmen and leaders?

When you graduate from school, particularly higher education, what you receive is a statement of result. However, when you need to pursue further studies, you would request that your former school sends your transcripts to your new school. Your transcript gives comprehensive details of your academic performance throughout the period you spent in school. Now as the good shepherd, the words you speak to your wife, children and other persons around you and your conduct are the transcripts of your heart. Your spoken words reveal your heart meter. Your words explain who you are and what your values are. Your spoken words describe the value you attach to the people in and around you. So, if you use very foul words on your wife and children, it only explains how much respect and value you have for them.  You cannot continue to insult your wife, calling her a foolish woman or use adjectives that seem to reduce her self-esteem and self-worth and claim that you are joking. You cannot call your child or children useless, unfit and dullards and conclude that you didn’t mean it. Jesus speaking said, the words that I speak to you, they are spirit and they are life (Jn.6:63). What this means is that every word that comes out of your mouth are spiritual seeds and have the power to reproduce itself in the lives of the recipient. The Bible also warns that out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks (Lk.6:45). The Scripture also advised that you and I must guard our hearts with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life (Pro.4:23).

Therefore, you must watch what comes out of your mouth in the direction of your wife and children. For you to be in control of your words so that your transcript can be good and godly, you must ask for the help of God in prayers. In Ps.19:13-14, David, the husband of Abigail, prayed for help over wrong words. Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins, let them not have dominion over me…………let the WORDS OF MY MOUTH and the MEDITATION OF MY HEART be acceptable in thy sight…..

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, by the power in the blood of Jesus Christ, deliver me from presumptuous sin.
  • Father, by Your Spirit, let the words of my mouth and meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight.
  • Father, by the blood of Jesus Christ, let Your word dominate me and empower me to speak positive words into the lives of my wife and children and.

FAITH CONFESSION

I surrender my heart and mouth to the influence of the Holy Spirit, because that is the help I desperately need to speak godly words to my wife and children as a good and godly man, husband and father in Jesus name. Amen.
