HE LIFTED HIS HANDS AND BLESSED

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Lk.24:49-50

More Scriptures: Heb.11:6, Num.6:24-27, Gen.22:18

And he led them out as far as to Bethany and he lifted up his hands and blessed them (Lk.24:50). A lot of the times as shepherds over the sheep of God in our custody, we tend to lose sight of the relevance of our position as heads of our families. We just remain within the realm of being called the head of the family,  yet there is so much we can do in our sheepfold and over the wife and children that God has committed into our custody that will command the attention of our flock.

You must understand and appreciate that as the head of your family, God has given you the ability to switch from a priest to a pastor, from a pastor to a prophet and from a man to a mentor. And today’s devotional helps you to appreciate this truth. Jesus Christ, who is your Perfect example of the good shepherd, operated in this realm when He walked in the earth. From the main scripture for today’s teaching (Luke 24:50), two things are significant here. The first is that someone led. So, the question you should answer is this, who are you leading? The second is that His hands were lifted, not to curse or hurt the sheep but to bless them. As the head of your family, do you bless your wife and children or you curse them?

As a ministry, we have received so many testimonies of the power of lifted hands, stretching out to bless. For example, every day when my wife and children wake up to greet me, I responded with a blessing. I blessed them. I can testify that I have enjoyed tremendous goodwill from my flock and outsiders. People admire my seed. You are leading your wife and children. You must release the prophetic unction of God upon your life and exercise it for the good of your wife and children.  Don’t mind if you don’t see any remarkable change in their lives in the now. Just keep blessing them and watch your words come to pass in their lives.

Now, what does it mean to be blessed? It means to be empowered to function as God has said. So, when you lift your hands and bless your flock, you have only released the ability of God into their lives to make them function as God has ordained them to. However, you must be careful not to make this profession a religion. If you don’t do it in faith, you will not experience the glory and manifestation of your prophetic blessings on the lives of your sheep. In Heb.11:6, the Bible tells us that without faith it is impossible to please God. He that must come to Him must believe that He is and He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. The blessings you enjoy for engaging in this noble act is that your wife and children will worship and honour you. Secondly, your flock will continue to praise and bless the name of the Lord for your life. It is profitable to bless than to curse your wife and children. Make your choice!
