WHAT FRUITS DO YOU BRING FORTH?

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Galatians 5:18-23

More Scriptures: Rev.22:15, Rom.6:14, Jas.3:17

But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these, adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envying, murders, drunkenness, reveling, and such like, of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which  do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the FRUITS of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance, against such there is no law. Gal.5:18-23.

The question the Holy Spirit is asking you, the head and shepherd over the sheep of God in your custody is this. What fruits are you bearing in and around your sheepfold? Are the fruits from the root of the law of sin and death or the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus? As the head of your family, you would have wondered why your wife and children have not accorded you the respect that you deserve as their leader. The answer is not farfetched. It is because you are bearing unrighteous fruits as indicated in verse 18-19 of Galatians chapter 5. For example, you cannot be committing adultery and expect your wife to respect you. You cannot also live in strife and hatred and think your children will honour you. It is true that God has made you the head of the family but you have a responsibility to live out His will for your life if you must count positively to your wife and children.

As the head of the family, it is God’s will for you to bear fruits according to His Spirit. There is no way you can produce spiritual fruits and not command the respect of your wife and children. For instance, if you can walk in love, be joyful, peaceful, patient, gentle, kind, faithful, meek and have self-control in all your dealings with your wife and children, you will have them reciprocate the same to you in greater measure. You are not just a seed-bearing agent, you are also the fruit-bearing tree. And when you bear righteous seed, you have directly and indirectly influenced your wife and children to live godly lives.

But how do I make my life to produce spiritual fruits? You must first and foremost accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Saviour (Jn.3:3-6). This means having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ through a personal fellowship with Him through His word, regular and intense communication with Him, and letting Him live His life through you to affect the market places of life (Matt.5:14-16) . You must daily renew your mind by the Word of God (Rom.12:1-3). You must pray daily and rightly so (Lk.18:1). You must also guide and guard the kind of relationships and communications lines that you keep (1Cor.15:33). That is the key. Unlock your potential in Jesus Christ and bear righteous fruits.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, by Your Spirit, make me a better man, husband and father to my wife and children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from spiritual and physical complacency.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, guide me out of every ungodly relationship and lead me into godly relationships.

FAITH CONFESSION

I walk in the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus and I bear spiritual fruits because that is my heritage as a good and godly husband to my wife and children in Jesus name. Amen.
