Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Lk.15:11-31

More Scriptures: Gen.3:9, Am.9:3, Job 31:33

I want to share with you God the Father’s love for you as the head of your family. He loves you so much that He is expecting you to return to Him. That it does not matter how far away you have gone in your fallen state, He is waiting for you with an open arm. This is what Jesus Christ, the perfect example of the good and godly husband, tries to teach in Luke chapter 15 and verses 11-31. It is the story of a rich man who had a son. The son demanded his inheritance from his father and went away to a far country. There he wasted all the resources his father gave him in a riotous lifestyle. As a result, he suffered hunger, shame and depravation.  And when he realized his folly, he returned to his father, who was eagerly expecting him home. When he returned home, the father gladly welcomed him.

This is what the Holy Spirit is communicating to a husband reading this devotional today. He is saying, it doesn’t matter how prodigal you may have lived your life as the head of your home, you can make a U-turn for good”. But the question is where are you now? This is because where you are as a husband determines what gets to you. When God made the first husband, He took him and placed him in the family-the Garden of Eden. Sadly, he wandered away from the location God had entrusted into his hand and found himself defenseless against the attacks of the devil. So, God is saying to you that as the head of the family, you are commanded to be with your family and not in the house of the strange woman, beer parlour, brothel or other unhealthy environment. As a husband, you are not safe outside God’s commanded territory. If you camp around ungodly environment, you will be tempted to do ungodly things. You can’t find yourself in a brothel and not be drawn to a prostitute. You cannot wander into a beer parlour and not be pressed to sip alcohol. You cannot gather around worldliness and not smell filth. The first husband wandered away from where God had placed him, he got tempted and fell disgracefully.

That struggle over sin that you have been going through in your life can be terminated only on the account that you change your location and retrace your steps back to Jesus Christ and return to your family. When you close from your business place or work, go home straight to meet the family you left since morning. No transit trips to unhealthy gatherings and places. Some husbands have wondered away to hotels and ended up in the grave. Others have visited the beer parlour and were poisoned to death. There are some who camp around ungodly environment and have been negatively influenced to hurt their wives and children. Some others have brought shame and disrespect to their families by reason of careless walk. Your case will be different in the name of Jesus Christ. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, I decree that the grace to be strong in the spirit to refuse to go to any ungodly environment be released unto you. By the power in the blood of Jesus Christ, I wash your feet from every wrong step set up by the devil to bring shame to you and your family. So, God is asking you, where are you now? If you are in the wrong place, escape now. Don’t be around the magnetic field of sin. It is dangerous. Be the prodigal husband. Return to God, return to your wife and children. They are expecting you with, open arms.

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for wandering to the wrong places and wrong people.
  • Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, break the yoke and power of sin in my life.
  • Father, by the power in the blood of Jesus Christ, deliver my feet from wondering to the wrong places and help me to return to You and my wife and children.

I repent of my waywardness and I return to God my Father through Jesus Christ and to my wife and children because that is how I can become the good and godly husband in Jesus name. Amen.
