And hast made us unto our God, kings and priests and we shall reign on the earth (Rev.5:10).
Our Bible text is from the Book of Revelation chapter 5 and verse 10 as captured above. By the help of the Person of the Holy Spirit, in the next two days, I would be sharing with you the twin dimensions of your headship as a husband and shepherd . I trust that Person of the Holy Spirit would reveal the depth and worth of your heritage both as a king and a priest so that you can manifest true godly leadership over your wife and children. Many husbands do not understand that by divine ordination, they are both kings and priests. Many have not been able to attain the fullness of who they are as spiritual leaders, prophets, shepherds, pastors, teachers, priests and much more.
Now what exactly defines a king and a priest? A king is defined by affluence and a priest is defined by influence. This means that as the king over your wife and children, you should be an expression of the riches of God. Abraham, the husband of Sarah, was an expression of a king. He was rich in silver, gold and in cattle. And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver and in gold (Gen.13:2). Abraham was not a poor husband. He was rich and that brought him honour and dignity as the head of the family. For instance, Sarah his wife called him lord and his son, Isaac referred to his God because among other things he was truly rich. Any wonder, the Scripture in 1Timothy 5:7, says that, “but if any provide not for his own and especially for those in his own house he hath denied the faith and is worse than an infidel”. The will of God for you as the head of your family is to provide for your wife and children. He wants you to be financially prosperous so that you can abound unto every good works, including meeting their material and social needs (2 Cor.9:8).
The first husband, Adam, was very rich. He had vast gardens. God engaged him profitably. And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and the man became a living soul. And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there he put the man who he had formed (Gen.2:7-8). As the head of your family, you must take personal responsibility for the upkeep of your wife and children. You must be a true representation of God, Who made you a king. He is rich. You have depended on your wife or others enough. You have given enough excuses why you cannot fulfill your role as the chief provider for your family. God has made you a king. Work in that understanding.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, by Your Spirit, endue me with power to reign as a king and a priest on the earth.
- Father, by the blood of Jesus, destroy every spiritual blindness, hindering me from seeing myself as a king and priest.
- Father, by Your Spirit, baptize me with a higher dimension of grace and faith and make me reign as a king and priest.
FAITH CONFESSION
I walk in the truth of God’s word that I am a king and a priest because that is my true nature as a good and godly husband to my wife, children and the world in Jesus name. Amen.
