YOUR REAL VALUE

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Luke 12:14-16

More Scriptures: 2Tim.2:6, Jas.5:7, Pro.12:4

And he said unto them, take heed and beware of covetousness, for a MAN’S LIFE CONSISTETH NOT IN THE ABUNDANCE OF THE THINGS which he possesseth (Lk.12:14-16).  Many times, husbands make this mistake. They think that their true value is a measure of what they have acquired- buildings, cars, investments, and other material possessions. This worldly belief has also made most husbands to put their confidence in things rather than in God, and this has kept them farther away from their wives and children. You now find husbands who have lost touch with their sheep because they spend more time pursuing money and more money at the expense of their sheep-wife and children. And the result is the husband now becomes a total stranger to his wife and children.

Today, Jesus Christ, the perfect example of how husbands should behave said your life is worth more than your material possessions. You are worth more than money, cars, houses, and any other material. Your true value is in the quality of the time investment you have made in the lives of your wife and children. It is also how much positive influence you have made in their lives. You must remember that as the head of the family, the world may not remember your material possessions, but they will remember the quality of wife and children you have left behind. God has given you a wife and children. They are gifts from God, and you must give account of them. Your wife is a gift. Your children are gifts.

But how do I guard my worth as the head of the family? First, you must delight yourself in the Lord your God. In Ps.37:4, the Scriptures say delight thyself also in the Lord and he shall give thee the desires of your heart (Ps.37:4).  This places on you an enormous responsibility to do those things that please God. As you walk to please Him, He presents Himself to you. This will boost your confidence. Secondly, you must ask for the help of the Holy Spirit in prayers and deep intercession- to open your eyes of understanding to know the glorious call that God has called you into. Most husbands are ignorant of who they are or what they are called to do as the spiritual authority and head of their families. In Jn.14:26, the word of God says that the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all things. He is the Person that gives expression to your value as the head. YOU’RE A WORTHY HUSBAND, make it count for everyone.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, by the blood of Jesus, deliver me from the power of careless and reckless living
  • Father, by Your Spirit, make me appreciate who You have made me to be.
  • Father, by Your Spirit, empower me to walk in the reality of my calling as a husband.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am created as a worthy husband by God and I vow to walk in that light for the good of my wife and children and to the glory of God in Jesus name. Amen.
