THE SHADES OF THE GODLY HUSBANDMAN (1)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: 1Thess.2:11

More Scriptures: Eph.6:4, Ps.127:4, Ps.128:6

Sometimes I wonder if we know who we really are as husbands, when you consider the reports coming out from many homes. By the grace of God and the help of my Greatest Teacher, the Holy Spirit, I will be sharing with you the many-sided pictures of the godly husbandman. So, let’s begin.

But let me start by helping you understand your true identities in God because your greatest need is self-discovery. The day you know who you are and what you can do, you become a success. The Bible provides the source of your true identity. Firstly, you are the man (Gen.1:26). Secondly, you are the husband (Gen.2:18, 21-25). Thirdly, you are the father (Gen.4:1). That is the starting point for you and the will of God is that you become successful and prosperous as the man, husband and father to your sheep and the marketplaces of life.

FATHER AND CHILD RELATIONSHIP “You know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you as a father does his own children” (1Thess.2:11). The relationship that exists between you and your children is a warm and loving relationship in which you nurture and respect your seeds. As a father, it is your principal responsibility to train up your children in the way of the Lord, and this must be done lovingly and faithfully (Eph.6:4). Your fatherhood nature is very important to your children. And if you engage your life to function as a father indeed, then the blessings that would come to you will speak louder than you could ever imagine. As a father, you occupy the position of a leader in the lives of your children. This means that you are their spiritual leader, life coach, teacher, mentor and guide. All that your children expect from a good and godly father must be visibly seen in your life. But how do I become a father indeed to my children, despite my busy schedule? Firstly, make out time for them. You must understand that you will always make out time for the things that are very important to you. So, if you think your children are precious seeds from the Lord, given to you to take care of, then you will value them and invest in them (Ps.128:6, Is.61:9). Secondly, you must give attention to the study of the word of God to find out God’s plan for your children. The Bible is the best book that gives you the true picture of the future of your seeds. And once you discover God’s will for them, it forms the basis for formulating your prayer points. It guides you on how to pray for your seeds. Thirdly, you must keep upholding them in intercession. You must keep interceding for your seeds until the nature and life of Christ is formed in them (Gal.4:19). As a father, there is so much at stake for you and your children. It is your God ordained responsibility to help them shoot right and become mighty children (Ps.127:4).
