I love the illustration given about the magnet and how it works. And if you and I have a good understanding of this and put it in perspective, it will help us to do those things that will make us attractive to our sheep and attract them to us. It is said that when you place a magnet in a spot and place pins around it, it automatically attracts the pins. The pins don’t beg the magnet to be attracted to it. The pins just find themselves glued to the magnet effortlessly. This is what the Person of the Holy Spirit is communicating to a husband reading this devotional today. He is saying that you are the magnet of His love. You have the power to attract your wife and children to you without any form of struggle. Making love attractive in your relationship with your wife and children begins with the quality of decisions you make concerning how you treat them. Decision is a proof of commitment. Whatever you have committed your life to do will inform the things that will be attracted to you. If you commit to serve your wife and children with the love of Jesus Christ, they will be attracted to you because whatever a man sows that is what he will reap. If you are committed to honour your sheep, you will attract honour and respect from your wife and children. You are the light of your family and your light should attract your wife and children to you. In Matt.5:16-17, it says, let your light so shine before men, that they may see thy works and glorify the Lord.
It is your good works that bring your wife and children closer to you and not your bold face, insult or aggression. It is the level of affection that you show to your wife and children that binds and attracts them to you. If you read Eph.5:25, Gen.2:24 and Col.3:19, you will discover that you are the magnetic field of love. It is in your power to attract your wife to you. Just the same way you can predict the outcome of a pin that is kept close to a magnet, you can also predict what happens when you walk in the love of Jesus Christ towards your wife and children. You can make all the difference in their lives if only you are ready and willing to pay the price to love them as Christ has loved the church. A lot of the times, we complain that we are not getting the needed support from our sheep, but we quickly forget that we have not acted rightly and in the way God expects us to.
So, how do I make myself magnetic enough to attract my wife and children to me? The first thing that you must do is to acknowledge and respect your wife as your mutual help-meet sent by God to be your helper and not your servant or housemaid. Until you come to accept the truth, the truth will not work for you (Jn.8:32).
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, let your light so shine in my life that it will command the attention of my wife and children.
- Father, by the power in the blood of Jesus Christ, cleanse me from every root of ungodliness.
- Father, by Your Spirit, make me receptive to my wife and children.
FAITH CONFESSION
I have made up mind to be a magnet field of love so that my wife and children shall be attracted to me because that is what makes me a good and godly man, husband and father Jesus name. Amen.
