Main Scriptures: Lk.19:11-26
More Scriptures: 1Sam.3:13, Gal.4:19, 2Tim.2:6
Let us start today’s teaching by establishing these truths. Everything and anything around you is a resource-seed. If you do not exploit them, it will not profit you. And that is what Jesus Christ, the perfect example of the good and godly husband, tries to teach us in Luke 19:11-26. He taught about the landowner who gave resources to his managers. Jesus said that a landowner gave talents (seeds) in equal proportion to three sets of people. Each one was supposed to trade with the seed that had been entrusted into their hands. While two persons were productive by increasing their seeds, the other person was not because he did not put his seed to work. As a consequence to the actions they all took, the master added to the people who increased their resources and took the only seed from the person who did not multiply the seed.
Now, as the head of your family and the priest over your wife and children, there are a few lessons you can pick from this teaching. Firstly, everything that you have was given to you by God. The word of God says that no one receives anything except it be given to him by God (Jn.3:27). Secondly, everything that God gives to you is a seed. Thirdly, the receiver of the seed has the personal responsibility to broker (trade) with the seed. If he doesn’t do anything about the seed, he has denied the seed the capacity to translate its potentials to results. God has given you and I seeds. God gave you a wife as a seed. He also has given you children as seeds. God has entrusted them into your care to do something positive about them. So, If you don’t like what you see in your wife and children, then it is your fault and not theirs.
In 1Sam.3:13, see what the word of God says about the husband who did not broker his seed productively. For I (God) have told him that I will judge his house for ever for the iniquity which he knoweth because his sons made themselves vile and he restrained them not (1Sam.3:13). But how do I maximize the potentials of my seeds?
The first thing to do is to search the Bible and understand the original plan of God for the seed that God has given to you-wife and children. Your wife was given to you by God for a purpose. There is something that God wants to achieve in your life and the life of your wife. God gave you children because there is something He wants to achieve on the earth through them. Secondly, you must learn to travail in intercession for your wife and children (Gal.4:19). You must consciously locate God’s provision for them and war with it in prayers until the results manifest. And as you do these, you will be the first person to enjoy the fruits that will come from your wife and children (2Tim.2:6).
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
• Father, in the name of Jesus, deliver me from foolishness and fear and unwise action.
• Father, in the name of Jesus, empower me to make my seeds profitable and productive.
• Father, by the Spirit of faith, empower me to keep watering my seeds until they begin to bear fruits.
FAITH CONFESSION
I am a wise manager of the seeds of God in my care and I am committed to nurture my seed for a profitable output because that is what makes me the good and godly husband in Jesus name. Amen.
