BE THE BEST YOU CAN EVER BE

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Jn.3:13-16

More Scriptures: Gen.22:16, Gen.1:28, Rev.5:10

We want to thank God for bringing us to the last day in the month of January, 2021. I also believe that you have been blessed by the teaching through this devotional. I am also confident that you have made certain firm decisions to be the best husbandman to your wife and children this year. And this is why today’s topic is important for you and me-to be the best of God to our sheep. I pray in the name of Jesus that you and I shall be the good and godly men, husbands and fathers to our sheep.

The will of God for you as the godly husband and head of your sheepfold is for you to be the best you can ever be to your wife and children. But do you know what it means to be your best to your sheep? Well, it simply means to give your best in character, conduct and speech. A lot of the times as the head of the family, we hardly give our best conduct to those we are leading and to those around us. As the leading light in the lives of your wife and children, you must deliberately guard your behavior. You must understand that your conduct will always speak louder than your speech. You must have the testimony that Apostle Paul had when he said, I labored more than all (1Cor.15:10).

As the head and spiritual leader in your home, your life must show commitment, determination, and passion to want to be the best man, husband, father, leader, mentor and guide to your wife and children. The glory of your headship is more than just impregnating your wife and becoming a father. It is more than having your children or wife bearing your name. It is more than having the entitlement-mentality that you are the head. It is about becoming all that God wants you to be to His sheep in your custody.

But how do I put my best foot forward for my wife and children? The first thing you must do is to have a positive mentality about who you are in Christ. In Gen.1:26-28, the word of God says of you, let us make man in our own image and likeness and let him have dominion over all….. Also, in Rev.5:10-12, the Scripture says that God has made you a king and a priest unto Himself that you may reign in life. Apostle Peter said, you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood and a peculiar people…(1Pet.2:9). Until you can change the way you think, you cannot give your best of God to your sheep. Secondly, you must resist the devil steadfastly in prayers. Putting your best forward is and will always be the will of God for you but there are many adversaries. Satan doesn’t want you to give your best to your wife and children. He worked so hard that Eli, the Priest, did not give his best to his family (1Sam.3:12-13). He also worked against Adam, the first husband in Gen.3:5-8. It is for this reason the word of God admonishes us to resist the devil steadfastly in faith. God has sent you to your wife and children so that you can demonstrate the best of His character to them. Make it count, positively.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to give the best of my life to my wife and children and the world.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, work through me to deliver Your best to my wife and children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to speak the truth from an inward heart towards all men.

FAITH CONFESSION

I offer the best of God in me to my wife, children and the world around me because that is what makes me a good and godly man, husband and father, in Jesus name. Amen.
