DO NOT GIVE UP ON THE VISION

I love the remarks Apostle Paul gave in one of his teachings and I encourage you to also like it. He says, “I press towards the mark of the high calling …Philippians 3:14…”  This Bible passage cures hopelessness. In one of those meetings that I attended a while ago, one of us shared with us how a pastor had given up hope on his wife. He had been married for ten (10) years and concluded that if his wife couldn’t be changed in all these years that they are married, then he didn’t think she can be helped anymore.

As the good and godly husbandman and the head of your family, there are two very important assignments that God entrusts you with when He gave you a wife and children. It is found in Gen.2:15 and Jn.10:30 respectively.

God took the man and set him down in the Garden of Eden to work the ground and keep it in order (Gen.2:15 MSG).

My sheep recognize my voice. I know them and the they follow me….. No one can steal them out of my hand (Jn.10:30 MSG).

From these two Scriptures, you will discover that you are the set-man God has ordained to oversee His sheep (wife and children) in your Garden- a symbol representing your family fold. Secondly, as a set-man, you are to develop your sheep in your Garden until they mature into the fullness of Christ and begin to bear fruits. Moreso, you are the shepherd, and your wife and children are your sheep. Therefore, as the good and godly shepherd, you have the onerous responsibility to connect with your wife and children to the extent that they will recognize your voice and not the voice of strangers. Finally, you have the singular honour to protect your wife and children from being stolen by satan, sin and the world.

Having known all these, you must then react against anything or circumstance that wants to steal your wife and children from you. When I talk of stealing, I am not just referring to physical stealing. I am referring to the loss of your sheep’s godly attitude and nature to the satan, sin and the world (Jn.10:10). When your wife and children begin to manifest negative attitudes towards you, then know that satan has stolen the good seeds from their lives and replaced it with ungodly seeds. This is why you must not lift your hands in defeat and conclude that your wife and children are hopeless cases. Never! The Scripture says, the law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and EVERYMAN PRESSETH UNTO IT (Lk.16:16). Apostle Paul declared, I press towards the mark of the high calling with the goal in view.

But how do I receive hope and courage to get my wife and children and sheepfold back from satan, sin and the world and help them align their lives to the word and dictates of God? You do that by praying and interceding for them with love and compassion in your heart (Gal.4:19). The second action point is for you to pray in faith (1Jn.5:14, Heb.11:2).

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the name of Jesus, empower my faith to believe all things in Your word.
• Father, in the name of Jesus, destroy every root of hopelessness and discouragement in my life.
• Father, in the name of Jesus, empower me to see Your glorious destinies for my wife and children.

FAITH CONFESSION

I press towards the goal God has set for my wife, children and family, in faith and courage because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
