DEVELOPING CAPACITY-FAITH (4)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Heb.11:1-3

More Scriptures: Heb.11:6, Jas.1:7. Pro.28:1

The other ingredient you need to develop your inner man is faith. Sincerely, and I must admit here and now that outside faith in God and His promises, you will fail as the godly man, husband and father. The challenges that come with becoming the godly husbandman are enormous. And because of that, most husbandmen have become depressed and discouraged. This has accounted for the increasing number of divorce cases, spousal attacks and murders. Recent statistics indicated that about 2.3m marriages were contracted in a period of 10 years and 600,000 of those marriages have dissolved in two years. If any shepherd can exercise faith in God, he can trust God to recover and restore his sheepfold.

But what does it mean for you to have faith in God and what makes it different from knowledge? Faith in God means that you agree with what God has said and you act on it. But without faith, it is impossible to please him, for he that cometh to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarded of them that diligently seek him. (Heb.11:6). You cannot claim to please God if you refuse to do what He commands you to do to your wife and children from His word. Whatever God commands you to do as the godly man, husband and father is what He expects you to do and nothing less. Neither your culture, experience, tradition nor doctrine can change that. The Scripture in James chapter 1 and verse 6 says, that let him ask in faith, not wavering………for let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord (Jas.1:6-7). On the other hand, knowledge is knowing something exist. Many shepherds know what God wants them to do and how they are expected to behave as godly men, husbands and fathers. They can preach it, teach it and even write books on them but unfortunately, they do not act on what they know. This is why they are not getting the results they so desire. As the head of the family, you must not only know what God wants you to do as the godly husbandman, you must also agree with what God says and act on them with love and excitement.

Now, when you walk in faith, what happens? The answer is found in Hebrews chapter 11 and verse 2. For by faith, the elders obtained a good report (Heb.11:2). Do you want to obtain good reports about your wife? Do you want good reports about your children? Do you want good reports about your relationship with your wife and children? Do you want to recover your sheepfold from satan, sin and the world? Do you want to continue to enjoy your wife and children into the future? Do you want to recover and restore your wife and children back into your sheepfold? Then, you must seek what God says, agree with what He says and act and comply with what He says.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the name of Jesus, pour upon me the spirit of faith for performance in my sheepfold.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the spirit of fear.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower my faith to bring forth results in my sheepfold.

FAITH CONFESSION

I seek to know what God says and I do them committedly because that is what makes me the good and godly man, husband and father to my wife and children in Jesus name. Amen.
