Let us take the tenth capsule.

Capsule 10: LEAVING INHERITANCES FOR YOUR CHILDREN IS A PROOF OF GREAT HUSBANDHOOD.

And Sarah my master’s wife bare a son to my master when she was old, and unto him hath he GIVEN ALL THAT HE HATH. (Gen.24:36)

Did you know that the will of God for you as the husbandman is to leave inheritances for your sheep? If you did not, it is not unusual. I also did not understand the importance of this truth until I read from the book of Proverbs. It is the thirteen chapter of Proverbs and verses 22. A GOOD MAN LEAVETH AN INHERITANCE TO HIS CHILDREN’S CHILDREN, and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just (Pro.13:22). There is a heritage in you for your sheep. There is an inheritance that God wants to channel to your sheep through you. You must see yourself as a door rather than a wall. The proof that you are the good and godly husband is the level of inheritance that your sheep can access. So, you must ask yourself what inheritances you have for your sheep. And if you don’t have any inheritance, are you planning to have one?

Now, let me share with you the inheritance you should leave for your sheep as the good and godly shepherd. The first is spiritual inheritance. How much of the values and nature of Jesus Christ have you lived by and communicated to your wife and children? These spiritual inheritances are found in Galatians chapter 3 and verses 22 to 23. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control, against such things there is no law. (Gal.3:22-23) ESV. These spiritual inheritances are the most important for your sheep and goes with them into the future. The children of Rechabites had this testimony of spiritual inheritance given to them by their father. And I set before the sons of the house of Rechabites pots full of wine and cups and I said unto them, drink ye wine. But they said, we will not drink no wine, for Jonadab, the son of Rechab, our father commanded us, saying, ye shall drink no wine, neither ye, nor your sons forever. (Jer.35:5-6). Another inheritance is financial and material. God wants to bless you and through you He wants to bless your wife and children (Gen.12:3). In Gen.13, the Scripture tells us of how blessed Abraham was. And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver and in gold. (Gen.13:2).

But how do I leave an inheritance for my wife and children? First, you must ask the Person of the Holy Spirit to give you a new heart by renewing your mind so that you can see the prosperity plan of God for your life (Ps.51:10). Secondly, you must pray for empowerment for wisdom and financial and material prosperity. For I am the Lord that giveth thee power to get wealth…. (Deut.8:18). If you are not empowered by God, you will not attain your full financial heritage as the godly shepherd.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, open my eyes of understanding to discover Your prosperity plan for my life and family.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to get wealth.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to leave behind goodly inheritance for my wife and children.

FAITH CONFESSION

I have the mind of Christ and I live for God and my wife and children because that is what makes me the good and godly husband in Jesus name. Amen
