Capsule 17: THE CHOICES YOU MAKE DETERMINES THE CHANCES YOU CREATE.

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day, whom ye shall serve, whether the gods which your father served that were on the otherside of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord (Jos.24:14-15)

I have come to discover that the choices we make determines the chances we create and the opportunities that God brings our way. Therefore you and I must be mindful of the choices we make as we lead our sheep. Therefore, I encourage you to focus on today’s teaching and let it be a time for you to evaluate the quality of your choices as you relate with your wife and children.

In our main scripture today, Joshua chose to serve God with his household. He understood the impact a quality decision can bring to man. He also extended the opportunity to the people. He asked them to choose between the God on Israel or the gods that their fathers served. It was a great decision for the people and to the glory of God, they all decided to serve God instead of other gods.

As the head of your family, have you decided to serve God and to love Him with the whole of your heart, might, soul and body? Are you leading your wife and children to serve God or the world? These are questions that you must ponder on because your worth before God is not in the abundance of the things you have but in the quality of your relationship with Him. God wants to work with you, for you and through you. He wants to have fellowship with you, your wife and children beyond their stay on earth. Make a choice to love God with your sheep. Make a choice to provide godly leadership to your wife and children. Make a choice to submit to the will of God as you lead your wife and children because God will always give expression to our choices.

But how do I know if I have made good and godly choices as the head of my family? The first is to place your decision side by side what God said about that matter. If it does not agree with the word of God, it is a wrong choice. The word of God is your anchor. It is your guide. It is the compass that points you to where to go, what to do and what to say. And this why you must give attention to the word and mediate upon it.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for making wrong choices.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to make good and godly choices and let it bear fruits outwardly.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower my choices by Your word.

FAITH CONFESSION

I walk in the consciousness of my office as the priest and I make right choices by the word of God for the good of my wife and children because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
