Let us take the eighteenth capsule.

Capsule 18: TRIUMPHANT HUSBANDMEN GO UP IN BATTLE.

So, Joshua ascended from Gilgal, he and all the people of war with him and all the mighty men of valor. (Jos.10:7)

If you read the story of the husbandman, Joshua, in chapter 10 of the book of Joshua, you will discover that he was a mighty man. He was also a man of war and victorious too. He understood his position as the shepherd of the sheep-Israel- and so he exercised his authority. He was not afraid to take on any challenge. That is the mentality God wants you to have as the head of your family. God does not want you to be afraid because he has your back covered the same way He had Joshua’s. There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with thee. I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. Be strong and of a good courage, for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them. (Jos.1:5-6).

You don’t have to be afraid of the challenges that may come as you lead your wife and children. Do not be intimidated by the obstacles on your way to becoming the good and godly man, husband and father. Remember that God who made you the head of your family knows that these challenges will come, so He gave you an advanced assurance in Isaiah chapter 41:10, when He said, “fear not, I am with thee…..”. You must understand that becoming the good and godly shepherd is not cheap talk. There is a price to pay, and it is your ability and willingness to pay the price that makes you the good shepherd indeed to your sheep.

Are you distressed or discouraged with the way things are going in your sheepfold? Are you scared that you may be unable to meet the expectation which comes with your office as the shepherd? Has your wife left you? Have your children abandoned you? Are you losing your energy and strength to continue to function as the man, husband and father? Do you still hear that small voice that tells you God has forsaken you? I want you to take just one bold step right now. Ascend in battle. You are almost at your point of victory. God has your back covered. He is coming through for you. You are a triumphant shepherd. Keep your gaze on Him and His word. Let your inner eyes see the future for your life, your wife and children and sheepfold in God’s plan. Hold on! Hold on!!, Hold on!!! Say these words loud and clear to yourself. I am not afraid; God is with me. He is coming through for me and whatever I have lost to carelessness and whatever the challenge is, I overcome because God has made me more than a conqueror.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, fill my heart with hope and confidence as I lead my wife and children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, hear me quickly and deliver my answers speedily.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, reveal Yourself to me and inspire faith in my heart.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am not giving up to defeat, I overcome the challenges and I recover, repossess, and restore my wife and children and sheepfold because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
