MY ANCHOR IN PSALMS 51

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Ps.51:9-11

More Scriptures: 2Cor.5:17, Rom.8:1, Rom.8:2

As the godly husbandman, have you ever fallen into sin and satan keeps harassing you with guilt? Do you feel trapped by your past mistakes? Then today’s teaching will be of great help to you. It is the blessings of Psalms chapter 51 and verses 9 to 11.

Purify me from my sins and I will be clean. Wash me and I will be whiter than snow. Oh give me back my joy again. Do not keep looking at my sins. Remove the stain of my guilt. Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me. Do not banish me from your presence, and don’t take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and make me willing to obey you (Ps.51:7-12) NLT.

Are you being daily reminded by satan whenever you get down to pray of the sin you committed that no one knows, not even your wife? Perhaps, you have committed adultery and your wife did not know. Maybe you got a lady pregnant, and you forced her to abort it. It could also be that you joined a cult because you were desperate to become rich. Notwithstanding the mistakes you may have made, there is hope for you. There is a new and a living way for you. Your sins can be forgiven. Infact, God is ever ready to extend mercies to you.

This prayer in Ps.51 is heartfelt desire of David, the husband of Abigail. He made mistakes. He had a sexual affair with the wife of one of his trusted soldiers. He committed murder. And when God exposed him through a prophet, he immediately acknowledged his sins, ask God to forgive and restore to him the joy of his salvation. He turned from his old ways to a new and better way of living. And that is what God wants you to do, right this moment. Your Father doesn’t want you to be on a guilty ride because it will have a negative effect on your relationship with Him, and on the quality of your thoughts and life and relationship with your wife and children.

God does not want you to justify why you cheated on your wife. He also does not want you to give reasons why you fall into sin. God wants you to be honest with Him and with yourself. He wants you to walk to Him the same way a child will walk back to his or her earthly father, when they are wrong. Jesus loves you so much and He wants you to be useful and profitable to your wife, children, and the world. He does not hate you, but He dislikes your sins. Do not give up on yourself. Do not continue in that life of sin and iniquity. Return today to God. Amend your ways and enjoy a new life of peace and joy in Christ Jesus. Now, there is therefore no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Rom.8:1).

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, grant me the courage to be sincere with You about my past and present sins.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from pride and give me a heart of flesh to return to You in repentance.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me all my sins and please restore to me the joy of my salvation.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am no longer a slave to sin, I repent of my sins and amend my ways because I long to be the good and godly husbandman to God my heavenly Father, my wife and children in Jesus name, Amen.
