AUTHORITY ENGENDERS RELEVANCE

But as many as received him, to them gave them power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.; which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man but of God. And the word was made flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth (Jn.1:12-14)

In my interaction with the husbandmen, I observed that they are struggling to function as the godly man, husband and father. And this has negatively affected the quality of their relationship with their sheep. Many of them have good intentions to be the godly husbandman but that has not translated into practical results. Some had promised not to abuse their wives physically or emotionally, yet they fell into the trap of battering their wives. Others had promised not to commit adultery with another woman, yet they find themselves going back to their vomit- a case of the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak (Matt.26:41). Many more are helpless and have given up hope that anything good and godly can happen to them and in their relationship with their sheep. Many more have lost the confidence and respect and trust that their sheep once had for them.

As the shepherd, you cannot become the good and godly husbandman by your strength, skill, and wisdom. You need the empowerment and help of the Person of the Holy Spirit. According to Scriptures, “it is not by power nor by might but by the Spirit of God” (Zech.4:6). It is the Spirit of God that energizes you to love your wife regardless of her weakness. It is the same Spirit that empowers you to reject any offer from a strange woman to commit adultery. Infact, the Spirit of God is what you need to live the life that God wants you to live as the good and godly man, husband and father. The good news is that you have that power with God (Mic.3:8).

So, for you to access the power of God that will enable you to be relevant to your wife and children and the marketplace of life, you must have and deepen your relationship with the Person of Jesus Christ, who has all you need to become the good and godly husband (2Cor.5:17). It is in Him you have your being and existence. Secondly, you must travail on the prayer altar continually until the change you want to see occur in your life (Gal.4:19). Prayer of faith changes all things and generates the power you will need to lead the life of the godly leader in your sheepfold. Thirdly, you must be steadfast in your pursuit for godly relevance authority and not be distracted by your missteps, satan, sin and the world (Matt.6:22). God has empowered you to be relevant to your wife, children and the world as the good and godly husbandman. 

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me by Your Spirit to be like You to my wife and children.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to manifest the full authority of my headship.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to obtain results as I lead my wife and children.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am empowered by the Spirit of God and I exercise godly authority and manifest relevance as the good and godly husbandman to my wife and children in Jesus name. Amen.
